The IAU has just named UB-313 (I think I remember the
number properly) as Eris, with moon Discordia. This

You're right, my mistake.

was previously known as Xena, and its discovery was
the reason for the rather rancorous discussion around
an official definition of a planet, resulting in the
demotion of Pluto.

There is some confusion, though, at least on my part. There are two
bodies named UB313 as I understand it:
2003 UB313 - now Eris?
2005 UB313 - formerly Xena?
If anyone knows the definitive story, I'd be interested in hearing it.

I think this is the official page about 2003 UB313/Xena/Lila:
It has been updated - it says 2003 UB313 has been officially named
Eris.
To my surprise, there does seem to be a different object named
2005 UB313, at least according to a brief note at the top of this
rather long page on the astrology site Astrodienst:
Quote: "Geocentric ephemeris of KBO 2003 UB 313, 10 day steps
Please do not confuse it with 2005 UB313. These are two different
objects."
Haven't found too many details on 2005 UB313, though. In web-search it
looks like a lot of people mistakenly say 2005 UB313 when they
actually mean 2003 UB313.

That was a mistake on my end, I had got confused by someone's email.
There is no 2005 ub313.
The page has been updated (actually, renamed into eris.htm )

It's officially 2003 UB313. There's a different body named
2005 UB313, which is a fertile source of confusion.
Mike Brown had code named 2003 UB313 "Xena",
but that's now gone by the boards since the official
name is now: 136199 Eris.
A good overview is here:

The Greek Goddess of Discord, eh? Seems
appropriate.
