solar return and venus return questions

moonmagic...
I am new here. thanks for having this forum. I thought a good way to
learn about astro interpretation would be to join a group and study my
own charts. I am having a hard time deciding which is more acurate to
use when doing the solar return chart. Make the chart from the place
you were born or make the chart to the place you live. Is it possible
that both have some significance. Why is there so much debate on using
either one or the other? Venus return. I am not sure how to do that.

James Aronis...
There are different astrological camps regarding relocation and the
relevant return charts to use. I would choose the relocated chart as
the primary, because I strongly believe that location makes a
significant difference. You should observe the two charts and see which
seem to apply more to you. Some individuals seem to find both charts
meaningful.

I do not have a program for this and I can not get any free charts
done. I do not know where to get a program that would do this kind of
chart anyway. I also use a mac. Which makes it more difficult until
they make them pentium platforms. Which Mac is supposed to be doing in
2007. Also, I guess I am doing this for personal reasons. I am trying
to figure out a relationship in my life. The significance of this
person. I have no idea when the person was born. But there is
definetely some intense karma going on here. More on that later.

Christine...
So what happens when a relocated chart for Venusian love says you
should move to Moscow, but to get a perfect Jupiter on the MC, you need
to be in Cairo ?:-). ?

Ruth...
You'd have to decide which benefit is more important to you, or maybe
visit both places? :-)

James Aronis...
Hi Christine,

No apology necessary. There have been heated debates here in the past
regarding returns and whether or not to adjust them based on the
current location. That's why I didn't reply to your post. It turns out
that you adjust return charts accordingly like I do, so it's a good
thing I decided to let it be. I didn't know that some astrologers also
do the same for birth charts. That doesn't seem right to me somehow.
Progressions and directions are a curiosity. Should these be left alone
or not?

Also, when a child is born there is the idea that character and how one
deals with the circumstances of life are shown in aspects within the
natal chart that will be activated at the appropriate time by
progressions to them.
Does using a relocation chart not upset this particular idea, or is the
relocation at certain times within one's life already calculated into
the chart at birth ????

Ruth...
The solar return chart per se means little, at least in my experience,
unless you combine it with the natal chart. What matters most, IMO, is
the way the SR planets are aspecting the nativity, revealing the
interaction between the innate self and how that self has been
evolving. This method seems to 'work' whether you have relocated
or not. Although SR charts are nothing but transits, as SR transits
they are supposedly more significant than our ordinary, everyday
transits.

As to following your Venus or Jupiter, etc. to another part of the
world, relocation astrology (or Astro*Carto*Graphy) is really a
different kettle of fish. A major move, even a number of moves, i.e.,
the likelihood that you will move a lot, will usually show up in a
natal chart and its progressions. Everyone in my immediate family has
had a strongly-tenanted 9th house, and all of us lived most of our
adult lives thousands of miles away from where we were born.
Interested to know about anything related to karma. You can post only
the birthday of the person you're involved with, if you wish someone to
quickly glance at the synastry. However, this will yield only an
approximation of their Moon position (usually taken for 12:00 noon as a
mean time), and the synastry can only be read from your perspective, as
far as the chart houses are concerned. Nevertheless, an appreciable
amount of astrological information may still be gleaned from the rough
comparison.

thanks any help will be valuable.

No problem,
