General question about transits

I know I should know the answer to such a basic question by now, but I
don't.

Jupiter and Neptune squared off earlier in the year. I was REALLY hyped
up on that one. Oil also jumped waaaaaaaaaaaay up. The square is
setting up again. Would I expect this pass to be the same or could it
have a different effect?

You probably want to look at the transit chart(s). A couple of
isolated planets isn't the whole story.

And I'd suggest following 1) Jupiter/Neptune
conjunctions/squares/oppositions back several years and 2) periods of
significant change in oil prices to see if there's a strong connection
between 1) and 2).

That's probably the connection between the transits and your own
planets (duh ;-)). So, look back in time for similar periods of
'madness' and what transits were to your chart.
