I've been getting some emails from folks in here, not something I really
like. I mean, if people merely email each other, how is there going to be
group discussion? Besides, I tend not to respond to uninvited emailing when
there is a perfectly good forum available but unused. Currently Ken is the

Sure. Sun on the 4th cusp too and equal house. It has its merits.

Bottom line is whether it works for the astrologer doing the interpretation;
if it works, by all means apply the technique.
I used these charts all through secondary school (junior/middle school and
senior high) and again at the renaissance festival. In the first situation,
kids wouldn't know that information and I didn't have reference materials or
knowledge of how to erect a chart. In the latter instance, few in general

A 'Fall From Grace' because one accepts no BS might be interpretted by
others as 'A Knight In Shining Armour', .... according to one's
perspective :-))
Speaking from experience there!

society know that information, mush less have access to the birth
certificate, so being able to get their chart read, even an abbreviated one,
is unanticipated and so occurs without preparation on the native's part.
Besides, there isn't time during the festival event to do a proper full
reading (with the preparation time involved) nor likely the on-hand cash to
afford it.

only one I have invited to do so (birth data, to better interpret his chart
for him), and will be the only one for now that I plan to respond to, with
apologies posted here to those that didn't know my preference.

Ah, thanks, Ken! I will get this worked up and posted before the weekend.
Watch this spot! If there are any specific questions, let me know.

Money, love is fine. work is great, feel like I'm at the top of my
game, just would like to see greater return. I even know what that's
about though. I suck at marketing. And don't feel much energy to do
anything about it. Another book is on the agenda, even have it
started. Only thing lacking is diving in and getting all submerged in
it.

But this isn't the reason I'm posting. It's a whole 'nother matter.
I've mentioned that, after a considerable amount of time interpreting charts
when I did not have the luxury of including time of birth, I have found
there is enough information to be culled from the planets and one luminary
(Sun) to find that sign placement and aspects will teach a surprising amount
about a particular individual. I've mentioned that I can go on for two
hours just on that much, and that's just the interpretation, not the study
before the reading (I like to have about a half-hour for that).
Has anyone else here read those kinds of basic charts? Do you have a
pattern to how you tease out the information?

Aspects (or aspect complexes, really), then signs.
Even w/o the wheel, it's possible to narrow down the themes. That's
generally more than enough to fill the time.

Oh, absolutely.
I usually start with the signs, how comfortable the panet is in it, then on
to planetary pictures, then the aspects left out. I'll cover the unaspected
planets, maybe address the possibility of aspects from the Moon. By then, I
can usually comment not just on how the personality functions, but also the
impact that personality has on the body, and how the native can make choices
that allow the energy to be expressed but not have the harmful impacts that
harm health, whether structural, vitality, or the tendency towards being
accident-prone.
All through, I give a mini-course on astrology, explaining the part each
planet plays in the personality, and I try to introduce the parts that Moon
and Houses would convey, if time of birth were known; I think they leave
with a better understanding of themselves and the usefulness of astrology.

Have you ever found yourself reading 'astrological twins'?
Or have you ever read people with a few core similarities but differing
placements and aspects elsewhere have made a significant difference? (I
have in mind three different sets of charts, all three where there was a
relationship between an older Gemini male and a younger Pisces female; the
first pair were disasters, the second and the third were perfect for each
other, completing each other, but each pair did so for very different
reasons and in very different ways...)
Well, yeah, that last one is obvious, but the examples sure help when I try
to explain to non-astrology types why one shouldn't base potential
compatibility on sunsigns so much.
So, what about the questions above; any comments? I'm interested in the
experience of others here.

Not sure what you're asking, except about missing birth times. As far
as non-astrology types, as soon as they understand there's a Moon in
the chart and it usually has a different sign, lights start to go
on...

I think you asked for my data once...if I emailed it to you, it's cos
I hit the wrong button by accident :)

No, no emails from you, but if you'd repost your birthdata here, that would
make it easier for me to find.
No commentary on the discussion elsewhere in my post, about reading sans
birth-time? Any experience with that?
