OT: Towel question

Jamie...
I'm ready to replace ALL of my towels and I'm toying (more than not!) with
the idea of using towels in a uniform color. Has anyone done this? Does it
work well? Most of my towels are 20 years old (with some worked in here and
there since) and not ragged but I'm ready for a change.

Having all of the towels in the same color would do away with the necessity
of sorting towels between my bathroom and DS's. There isn't any real
distinction between these but you know, over time you find some that work
better for the kids than yourself and that's the way it stands.

I think I'd like a darker color - understanding they couldn't be washed with
anything else. But if they're all the same there's no problem with that.

The two colors that I'm considering are linen and rust. I like the linen
but it really doesn't give the bathrooms any pizzazz. I like the rust
better but they do seem to fade quickly. The bathroom walls are muted
yellow with terra-cotta (ish) tiles.

Any comments on my major overhaul would be appreciated!

Jamie

P.S. Another thing I've to consider is the discontinuation of the color
once I purchase it. I guess I'll purchase extra to put away until needed.

I have white towels in both bathrooms. When the kids got into their
teens and used various face products some would discolor colored towels
so white seemed to work well. Also you can bleach white. Some colors
do fade quickly but if you wash them in cold water, it will work well.
Some sites like Land's End will send you fabric swatches so you can use
them against your walls.
