Today, at lunch, I was looking for another pair of shoes that would be
wide enough in the toe to accommodate my healing broken toe. Lo and
behold, I found that Converse high-tops fit the bill. They don't have
the support I'd prefer, but they are such a nice switch from the *ONE*
pair of (cross trainer) shoes I have than I can currently wear, and
they could easily be worn on days I don't have to walk a lot.
Can't wait for the response at home. ;) My tween-aged daughter, a while
back, doubted me when I told her I used to have several pair of Chucks
in different colors and wore them a fair amount. I fully expect an eye
roll, at minimum.
The pair I found in my size (a half-size, which makes it harder) are
the standard -- or may I say "classic" -- black high-tops. I know
Converse high-tops aren't "in"...or at least like they were in years
previous...but are these things ever really truly "out" either? And is

They are very much "in" now. And you're right, no support or
cushioning, but they are a cool looking pair of classic shoes. Looking
at feet, you'll notice a lot of people still wearing them, even
celebrities! :)
Anyway, they're much better looking than the FUggs that are "in" now.

it terribly, terribly dull not to have a fancy pattern or color? Not
that it overly matters -- it's what they had, and *I* like them. But I
would still like to know outta curiosity, at the very least.
Maybe next time I can find them in a more amusing color. For now, it's
just nice to have something different on my feet. I still need to find
me a nice pair of "real" shoes, though I did find a brown pair at home
that still fit. (I prefer black.)

I consider them to be classic. Especially in your basic "core" colors
(black, red, navy...).

And white!
I got pink and purple ones today (two pairs, that is- one pink, one
purple). The multicolored ones and funky prints may go out of style, but
solid-colored Chucks are classics!

Enjoy them!

Thanks! I have them on now; I'm so glad I bought them. They are so much
fun.
The funny thing was my kid's reaction...I didn't get the eye roll I
expected. Instead, she told me that her fellow-fifth-grade friend had a
pair just like them. My being much older than fifth grade, I'm not sure
if that's good or bad! Anyway, I'll probably never grow up, at least as
far as Converse high-tops are concerned.
