My dh starts a new job in a few weeks where he will be on his feet for
much of the day in court. He was wondering if there were any brands
folks might recommend for dressy shoes that will be comfortable.

They don't have to be super dressy..."business attire" is about right.

Kenneth Cole Reaction. or Kenneth Cole with Silver Technology.
i don't have any with the Silver Technology - there are never any
on the clearance racks, and usually none in my size on the
regular racks. if you're near a Kenneth Cole outlet store, shop
there. you can get shoes and clothing *much* cheaper than
online. i've gotten seven pairs of shoes from the outlet here
for around $600.

My husband bought a pair of Fratelli Rossetti shoes in DSW. Prior to
finding them he was not familiar with this brand, but he said they are some
of the most comfortable shoes he owns. They are not inexpensive - the pair
he has were somewhere in the $200-$300 range (can't remember, we bought them
a year ago), which was the marked-down DSW price. However, he said they
were comfortable from the very first time he put them on and to this day he
says they were one of his best shoe purchases & worth the price b/c of how
comfortable they are.

In order of least to most, my DH likes Rockport, Merrell, & Ecco shoes.

There are some Clarks that are highly comfortable and depending
on the guy's style look pretty cool. My husband kind of looked
askance when I brought him his, but then some incredibly stylish
younger colleague in Atlanta has on a pair virtually identical-looking
(although his were Prada). They are plain oxfords.
My husband also says that both pairs of Stuart Weitzmans I've
gotten for him are as comfortable as slippers. And one pair
is not casual shoes--loafers. Pricey but worth it.
Both the Clarks and the Weitmans are completely appropriate
for wearing in business, with trousers and sport coat, or with
anything but the most formal suit.
