I admit it. When I look in the mirror, I don't see a middle-aged woman.
But that's what I am. (Fabulous, of course , but middle-aged
nonetheless.) So when I look at the fashion trends in magazines, I am sure
I consider wearing certain looks that may simply be too young. Sometimes
it's easy to figure out that a look is inappropriate for me. Other
times...not so sure.

Y'know, Stevie, when you're around the fancy celeb types, you aren't allowed
to wear the same outfit twice. So, I'm happy to take the outfit--minus the
shoes and tights--off your hands. Okay, you can keep the belt, too.

* so hearing that.. I don't like what the magazines are showing generally
and I have to be very careful what I order to make sure it works--not ALL
fashion looks are going to work.. but then there are looks shown on overly
made up teens who look 33 that aren't appropriate for 16 year olds either

Absolutely. Stripey fuschia tights? Probably not for us over-forty
foxes. Opaque, solid navy/burgundy/moss green/charcoal/dove
gray/chocolate/whatever? Yeah!

I don't think of tights as "young" in the same sense that I do, say, the
micro mini or over the top trends. Worn properly, I think tights are simply
one more piece of your wardrobe. And given your overall fashion sense, I'm
sure you avoid the faux pas that might make it not work.

** it doesn't matter as long as the color and outfit works. However don't
try pale pink, white, metallic tights since you would look like little miss
muffett or a space alien.
I have red, burgundy, green, camel, navy, black, brown, and charcoal.. (have
fishnets too) and I plan on wearing them all and layering fishnets over them
too just for a pop of color and texture.

It'll be boot season here in a few weeks and my question becomes moot. In
the meantime, opinions, please.

I have no doubt that your good taste and fashion sense will tell you
what works and what doesn't with regard to tights. As for me, I don't
intend to stop wearing them--they're warm and stylish when put together
with the right outfit.

I think you can wear them. Tights really make an outfit come together.

** I will be wearing tights tomorrow in LA and going to a celeb oriented
event. with a denim skirt, white blouse and a long vest that is belted.. I
want to look more polished.. and more of the moment. Tights provide a polish
that bare legs don't have.
