beach beauty

Anyone else headed to the beach in January? I'll be spending a week in
Mexico, and have been thinking about what to take.

Where are you going in Mexico? I was just in Mazaltan and even though it
gets pretty cool in the evenings there, the days are warmish--you won't
want to wear too much makeup then. Most places are pretty casual
there (depending where.) Have a good trip!

Thanks! We're going to Puerto Escondido, which is a smallish beach
town on the Pacific coast, pretty far south. We've been there before,
and it is very casual. A couple times we've combined this with a visit
to Ciudad Oaxaca, but alas won't be doing that this time due to the
political unrest.

I recently discovered Becca Beach Tint after it was shown in Allure
this fall. It's the only cheek/lip product I can remember trying that
looks good in both places, and I've been using it just about every day
since getting it. The color is described as watermelon pink, but it's
not at all garish looking. Beach Tint + Prada lip balm and I'm good to
go, so my makeup kit is going to be tiny: beach tint, lip balm, a
brownish Versace lip tint, mascara, Color Science powder sunblock, and
I want to get some kind of cream eyeshadow with gold tones.

I've looked at Bobbi Brown cream shadow in Sandy Gold on-line, but
won't be able to try it out in person. The description (pale golden
beige with a hint of shimmer) sounds perfect, but I worry that it could
have some orangey tones, which I don't want. Has anyone tried it? Any
other ideas?

It sounds like you have the perfect beach makeup look! Unfortunately, I'm
not a gold e/s fan, so I don't have a good rec for you; however, I like
Cargo Georgia e/s (a shimmery-but-not-too-shimmery beigey peach) as a bare
e/s look.
