marcia...
I have curly hair which I leave to curl during the summer months but during
Fall and Winter it's to cold to walk around with a wet head. Would anyone
have any suggestions for a good hairdryer that I can use to straigthen my
hair and one that possibly comes with a diffuser?

Stacy Ferguson...
Although I already voted for the T3 Tourmaline, I have to admit
that I'm planning to try out another dryer when it becomes available
in October because the diffuser has a unique design that looks like
it would be a perfect solution for my curly hair styling pet peeve.
My favorite styling products tend to help control my very large, thick
head o' hair at least partly by weighing it down. The big negative there
is that the hair ends up curly on the bottom but flatter on top. I've
worked around that out by drying upside down to lift the roots a bit
but since the hair within a curl doesn't really "lay" the same way
once I flip my head back right-side-up, the hairs shift and I get
frizz. I just checked the Devachan site to reorder a few products I'm
running low on and they've developed a limited edition dryer/diffuser
set that fascinates me. I think it could take care of the flat/frizzy
root problem. Here's a link to the dryer:

It's definitely spendy (especially since I already spent $200+ on my T3)
but if I can handle the root-lifting problem with it, it would be worth it.
I just wish the DevaFuser were sold separately because that's really the
part I want. I preordered it and will post a review once I get it and try
it out (which does not appear to be likely for maybe 6-7 weeks since it's
not actually available yet).

I bought my last dryer at the hair salon and paid $175cdn. It lasted about 5
years but now each time I use it, it gets really hot and smells like
somethings caught in the motor. I brought it to get repaired and they told
me it'd just be cheaper to buy a new one.

Hopefully this new one won't be so heavy! I have heard of Babyliss but am
not sure if this is good.

Any suggestions would help.

Hi Marcia,
Is there possibly lint or something making it heat up more? You might
try and see if there is air circulation, if not clean the screen or whatever
with a dry toothbrush to clear the debris.

I also have curly hair and am very, very pleased with my T3 Tourmaline
dryer. It dries very quickly and seems to prevent frizziness. You can
read all about it by searching the web "T3 hair dryer." The going price seems
to be about $150US. Some websites offer the diffuser for free, some
charge for it, but yes, there is a diffuser available.

Stacy Ferguson...
I love it for my curly hair, as well! But only with the diffuser, which
is sold separately for $25. It has a pretty long warranty for a
hairdryer (4 years, I think) so be sure to register it if you get one.
It's called the T3 Tourmaline. I have the larger dryer. There's also a
travel sized dryer but I'm not sure if the diffuser will attach to that.
It doesn't look like it to my eye but I don't have one so I haven't
actually tried it (and for some reason, no one at Sephora seems to know
if it'll fit or not)!
