Debbie the Dogged...
David and other Indian movie afficianados - I've now watched and enjoyed
"I Have Found It" (both the mind-aching version with the surreal
subtitles and the much more understandable Kino version) and Bride and
Predjudice, and am ready for many more forays into Indian cinema. What
other movies should be on my list?

David RL Gärtner, RMT...
Veer-Zaara
Dil Chata Hai
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Mohabbatein

and i hear that "Swades" is very good. it stars Shahrukh Khan -
he's a big Bollywood star currently. oh, and look for titles
starring Priety Zinta - i like her. i checked her imdb.com
profile and it said that she dropped out of medical school to
pursue an acting career. she stars in Veer-Zaara, et al.

Debbie the Dogged...
Thanks! Netflix has them all, including Swades, so they're now in my
queue. The local little video store had Bend it Like Beckham and Hum
Dil De Chuke Sanam (Straight from the Heart) so I rented those
yesterday. It's great to have a new frontier (for me - I did some
research and had no idea India had such a huge and well-established film
industry - it's been around at least as long as Hollywood).

~goatini~...
I caught the last half of "Bride and Prejudice" on cable last weekend.
I was so charmed by it!

Debbie the Dogged...
You should rent the DVD so you can see the whole thing, plus the extras
are great! The director (the same woman who directed Bend It Like
Beckham, which I just finished watching and also highly recommend) is a
hoot, and her director's commentaries are a lot of fun, plus educational
on things Indian.

David RL Gärtner, RMT...
yes, i noticed that in the Beckham special features - a recipe
for Aloo Gobi - which is excellent, BTW. just cut the salt down
to 1/2 teaspoon. 2t is just way too much.
