My wife, sister and I were out and about yesterday morning and we decided to
stop in at Costco (against my better judgement of course). Anyway, my sis
was telling me about a diamond ring she's been drooling over. We looked at
it and the price was $13,000.00. Yeah, that's a pretty hefty ring but it's
nice (far as I could tell). Then we're reading the details about it and it's
called 'Canadian Diamond'. I don't know if that's a term for a type or a
brand name? Anyway, then a bit down further we see that it's actually a
cubic zirconia! How can this possibly be true? There was nobody around to

"Canadian diamond" means it's a real diamond, ethically mined from a
diamond mine in Canada rather than a "blood diamond" from Africa.

indeed ... and here are some details as to their quality ...
I am not selling them or have any connection with anyone who is ...
but am certainly pleased that there are now diamonds that are not
'blood' stones ...

That's more or less what I thought but how can a cubic zirconia be sold as
one for 14 grand?

I don't know, but I'd guess that either you either misread the details
or the writer made an error.

You and Laura are saying the same thing so I guess a trip back is in order.
Not sure if they'll be open or not being Easter but we are going in that
direction for brunch so I'll make a point of stopping in just in case.
And I will report back because this is an odd one. Thanks :-)
