my first piece of couture

OK, so it isn't really couture, but my first custom-made piece of
clothing not made by me or my mother. I had a dressmaker make a dress

I am sure it will be extremely successful. We have been dining at a
family run Meditteranean restaurant for years. The owner's brother
opened a Brazilian steakhouse a year ago and it has been packed with
diners from the day it opened. Now he plans to open a second restaurant
in another location.

How was last night's event?

that I wanted and couldn't find ANYWHERE. it was the Marc Jacobs
charcoal dress from the fall line, it had a lace-yoke top. Here is a

My husband's new restaurant opens today, and over the past week or so
they have been having practice meals, and a private grand-opening
party. To the friday night practice I wore an old stand-by Diane von
Furstenburg wrap dress (the vintage twigs print).
To the private party on Saturday, I wore the dress I had made. It was
a really fun night, and the dress got many compliments. I wore it with
black strappy Vera Wang sandals I bought on Bluefly, and silver and
faux-diamond starburst earings and a green saphire ring that were
borrowed from a friend.

Not couture but perhaps made to measure. Anyway it is a beautiful
