Perfume Critic

The New York _Times_ has hired one for its "T: Style" fashion magazine:

I will be thrilled to read anything he has to say about the fragrance
industry, how new fragrances are developed, the categories and
histories of perfumes, etc. However, I'm not at all clear on how one
person can "rate" a fragrance. Fragrances simply smell differently on
different people. I *adore* Angel when I smell it on someone else but
I can't wear it--it makes me queasy. Really curious to see how this
rating system will work...

Thank you for posting this link, I've been wondering when the NYT fall
style magazine would come out. I remember the new perfume critic's New
Yorker article on Un Jardin sur le Nil, which went into depth on the
conceptualization and development of the fragrance and was a very
enjoyable read.
