lowlights/highlights question

Mary...
I had my hair styled, colored/lowlights/highlights while I was visiting my
family in Newport Beach, Calif. The stylist did the lowlights and
highlights at the same time using foil for the highlights and covered my
grey roots and the rest of the hair with a darker color. (The highlights
were more of a grey/silver/white color so that when my roots started
showing it was not far off from that grey color.) My hair is thin/frizzy
and fairly short so she also used texturizing shears to finish cutting it
very short. I told the Stylist to do what would look best on me. This was
done this past August.

When I returned home in Missouri........my dh .......who rarely ever says
anything about my hair, immediately complimented me on the color and style.
Also I got tons of compliments from friends and complete strangers on how
natural looking my hair was colorwise and loved the style on me.

The stylist gave me the color numbers for Loreal Professional but nobody
here uses that.......so my salon matched it up with what he uses. When it
was time to color my hair.......he first colored all my hair the lowlight
color and THEN did the highlights.

When he finished with my hightlights, it was a carmel color...yuk....so I
complained and he put a toner on all of my hair which did nothing but change
all my hair to a lighter color that completely washed me out. On top of
all that he said the texturizing shears were a gimmick.!!!!

I am going to try another sytlist next week.

Also I would like to know if most stylists do the highlights and lowlights
at the same time to get a better result?

Thanks all.
