Too soon for boots?

I'm not ready to put away my sandals and Chucks, but I find myself wondering
if it's really too early for boots.

I agree with the poster who says it all depends on your clothes. I
would not wear knee-high black boots with sheer or light coloured
spring/summer fabrics, with capris or fine linen. But I could wear them
in August, if the weather was such that I would need to wear jeans and
a warm sweater.

Fashion mags often recommend "mixing it up"--wearing something soft and
flirty with something tough like Doc Martens work boots. It always looks so
cute on the wispy anorexic 14-year-old on the runway. I wish I'd been more
fashion-oriented when I was, perhaps, young enough to get away with such a
look. Alas, I do feel the need to keep most of my outfits more balanced
than that.

the boots back into play.

Put away the Chucks?
What kind of deviated prevert talk is this?

Is anyone wearing knee-high, black leather boots yet? Is there a boot
equivalent of "no white after Labor Day"?

Those boots are made for walkin'. (Yeah, I know it's 'These' but I couldn't
help myself) Don't worry about the time of year because it's always nice
outside when you wake up in the morning.
Wear white whenever you like ;-)

I'm not wearing knee-high boots, but I did pull out boots for the first
time this season today. I'd been holding off. I didn't get them at
Zappos, but here they are:
It's all of 62 degrees today and overcast. It just plain felt like boot
weather to me. I'm wearing them with longer jeans and a three-quarter
sleeve black shirt...so, fall clothes.
But I'm not going to put away the Chucks until it snows.

I've seen a lot of people in boots here in NYC, but IMHO it looks silly
since they're still essentially wearing summer clothes.
I don't think that boots can only be worn after a certain date, but I
DO think they can and should only be worn with cool or cold weather
clothes. Fall and spring are the time for slingbacks, ballet flats,
and peep toes -- shoes that are too closed in for the dog days of
summer, but too open for freezing temps; its probably my favorite time
of year for shoes

I may compromise by wearing boots that really can't be worn in winter in my
part of the world: red suede! I would never subject them to "real" winter
here, which always includes plenty of salt, slush and snow. Unfortunately,
it really *is* fairly cold and vile here already.

Hey, I'm of the opinion that one should wear boots whenever one feels
like it!

Chilly, nasty, rainy in NYC past couple of days and yes, saw lots of
knee-high black (and other color) boots. Almost wore brown ones today
myself but opted for my Tarjay Coach knockoff loafers. I don't think
there's a "rule" about boots--it strictly depends on the weather.

I agree. I think it has a lot to do with where you live.

Yes, it is currently 95 degrees. Sandals, shorts, short sleeved
tops, capris/cropped pants still rule here.

We cooled down twenty degrees today so I hope the weather front will
blow your way. Unfortunately it will warm up again and I probably won't
be wearing boots until the first of November.

I'm another one who waits until mid-October to wear boots. The last
week or so, I've been seeing people wearing boots with what are
obviously fall clothes, but I am also still seeing people wear white
pants, sandals and capris.

When the weather hits the 50s, it's boot time. We've had a few nights
like that already. No, I didn't wear boots but sure wish I had!!

Just my personal opinion, but yes, I think it's too early for boots.
I'm in the southeast and we rarely get weather cold enough for boots
anyway. Wearing boots in September is pushing it a bit, but like I
said, that's just my opinion.
