David RL Gärtner, RMT...
anyone heard of this? my housemate alerted me to it after
listening to me complain about Netflix (when i joined this time
last year, i was getting ~17 movies/month, now i'm getting ~12/mo
and four of my last six discs came from out of state - taking
three days to get here).

it's rated #1 by Consumer Reports.

i might give 'em a try.

If Consumer Reports rates them #1 *for the reasons you are dissatisfied with
Netflix*, I'd say go for it. But if they rate it #1 for reasons like nicer
envelopes or easy-to-navigate-website or...

Well! It looks like it has "mature" DVDs, THAT is one difference ;)

FWIW, I've been using Blockbuster.com for over a year and have been happy
with it. (Anything beats having to drive an unwatched dvd back to the video
store in a blizzard, imo.) My mom is on Netflix; I handle the account for
her because she isn't comfortable doing much online. I do like the feature
on Netflix where a description of the movie pops up automatically if you put
the cursor on the film's name. Blockbuster requires an additional clickage
for this. It's not a major hardship.

Neither one of us has experienced the problems that I've heard about on a.f.
