pinstripe jacket solid pants?

I am completely fashion naive, so please bear with me.

Is it acceptable to wear a pinstripe jacket with solid pants?
Specifically, the jacket is black with very light white pinstripes, and

It verges on intentional flouting of norms in some circles.
Perhaps in more locales than those known to me.

the pants are either black or dark gray. (The occasion is a wedding,
but is it okay at all in other situations?). If yes, is a solid or a

I doubt it's any correct in any fashion sense. I've
never ever heard anyone advise anyone else to wear
anything but a suit to a wedding.

I have seen men at weddings in these latter days
of rampant ignorance in a jacket and slacks, but
never a pinstripe jacket. Both solids, and
a separate sport jacket, not from a suit. I'm not
excusing this, for those reading this who do
have fashion sense. This is a factual observation.
