vitalflame...
Hi you all- I can always count on alt.fashion in the past for stuff, so
I thought I'd consult you at this time.

I'm a second time bride with a distinct dislike for looking like a
frosted buttercream cake. I'm also short 5'2" and a size 16.

Where should I look, online or off for a nice dress with no train and
with sleeves or a jacket....

I'm in Chicago, and planning a spring 07 wedding!

I bought a pretty ivory wedding dress from JC Penneys. Short sleeve
had a cool drape thing on back,of back so showed some back) loved it,
just look around I quess, oh and I think my dress was like $88 bucks
and everyone loved it including me :))

I'd stick with Field's, Nordstrom, or other established shops for a nice
evening suit. I think even Penney's in Lombard has a nice evening
selection for mid-sized. If you find a dress you like and it doesn't fit
right, have it altered. Or you can start there, with a seamstress.

If you're willing to take a chance on mail-order, I've dealt with the
following shop twice and the products were EXCELLENT!

Good luck and congratulations.
