jane.elizabeth...
Haven't been around alt.fashion in ages, but I know there used to be a few
very knowledgable skincare experts here. :-)

I picked up _The Skin Type Solution_ by Leslie Baumann, M.D., from the
library this week, and I'm finding it quite fascinating. I have not as yet
tried out her regimen suggestions for my skin type (slightly oily,
sensitive,non-pigmented, slightly wrinkled), but plan to give them a try
soon.

Has anyone else read this?

I read the introductory chapters, took the test, found out my skintype
and then read the chapter on it. If I read the other chapters, it will
be too confusing. Because I have fairly normal skin she begins the
chapter saying people like me tend not to spend much time on their skin.
Well, that's not true. I have always taken good care of it or at least
always since my 30s when I found out more about the dangers of tanning.
She has product lists for everything but I already own products I like
so where do I go from here?

I think it is a better book for someone younger than me who doesn't
understand her skin type or what products to use for it. Also it is
more helpful than advice you get from the majority of untrained
inexperienced SAs; the good experienced ones usually know their stuff
unless they are on commission.

I have, and i have your skintype, so what worked for me may not work for
you, but i tried her favorites first...citrix and cutanix, and neither
one was really good for my skin. then i tried the atopalm she uses, and
on a whim ought the whole kit from skincarerx.com (i think)...they had a
special on four full sized products...55.00, i think. this stuff is
working much better for me. i'd say she's more help by far than paula,
but less help than i oped she'd be (but then again, i wanted her to pull
something out of her hat to turn my rosaceous skin into flawless 20 year
old skin!)

What products do you find help with the Roscaca (sp?)?
