For the past year I've had my hair cut in a Jackie-O style French bob.I get
it trimmed about every 6-8 weeks, and EVERY time I go in, my stylist has
forgotten how I want it cut. She'll say, "do you want it longer in the
front?", and I'll say, "no, French bob, remember?" and then she remembers
and does it. I have no clue why it's so hard for her to remember (she
forgets EVERY SINGLE TIME!), except that I know she does very contemporary
cuts all day on most of her clients which is quite different than the style
I get. Anyway, I keep going back to her because eventually she does remember
and I like the cut she gives me in the end. Plus her rates are very
reasonable.
Anyhoo, glad you love your new hair!

You know, I'm having this EXACT problem with my current stylist.
Backtracking - taking notes is perhaps the greatest service that a stylist
can do for his/her clients. And they need to be thorough. Years ago my
best ever stylist took the greatest notes, and although she would ask me
general questions, "Is your color good?" and "How did you like your 'bob'?",
she always had the info written down. My current stylist does an excellent
job when she can remember who I am. Just kidding, but I've been going to
her for over 10 years now and she also questions me every time on the color
and cut. How many times do I have to say "I'm still growing it out and
don't cut the layers"? Just once it would be nice if she would say "Are you
still growing it out?" And, please, please don't ask me what you did with
the color the last time because all I'll be able to tell you is that you
matched it to the color of my hair. I don't know what product you used and
what size rods you used (when perming) and what mixture you used and how
long you left it on. I can barely remember the last time I had my hair even
done (children do keep you busy). Good notes would really help this
situation.
OTOH, she has helped me with my fried hair that I posted about in response
to Nan's original hair post. The Redken products she recommended to me (the
CAT protein treatment and Extreme Anti-Snap) have worked and my hair has
returned to some semblance of normalcy.
I feel your pain!

I grew my hair out for a while (OK, 8 months - it looked AWFUL), I
decided to try a new place. Not entirely new, I go there for mani/pedi
sometimes, and my husband goes there for massage and facial.
So, this is the best color I have every gotten (golden highlights,a
little lighter than my own natural highlights, and warm lowlights, a
little redder than my natural).
The cut is fantastic, if I do say so myself. It is a chin-length bob,
she took a bit of heaviness off the back and sides, and sort of angled
it without really layering it too much. I am very happy, and will be
going back to this one!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, a great hair cut and color is wonderful. Doesn't it
make you feel so good and you know you look good, too? Glad you are so
pleased with your salon trip.
