EMiriam inspired me to start this thread.
Most of us have accumulated cosmetics that we use for awhile, use rarely
stars...
|
I think EMiriamD, who I originally heard about the Dior concealer from, has
found a good substitute in L'Oreal True Match concealer. Once I finish my
stash I will be looking for the L'Oreal concealer. I just hope they don't
discontinue that one!

and/or forget about entirely.
OTOH, there are the few products that we use up, replace and, when fearing
the inevitable discontinuation, ultimately hoard.

Stila Strawberry Daiquiry trio. When I first bought it, one of the
shadows crumbled, and I almost didn't replace it. Now, there are
literally months that I wear no other shadows. I'm on my 3rd (4th?),
and I *think* I have two more in reserve, via ebay. I panic at the
very thought that someday, I won't be able to get any more of these
babies.
I think that's it for the hoarding. The few other times I've bought
*extras* I've wound up going off the product before I'm into the stash.
Things I've used up and replaced several times, though, include:
Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation. Yes, I would probably hoard this
if I thought it was being discontinued.
MAC Sheer Plumb lipstick. A staple for me; I think I'm on my 3d tube.

Topping my list:
Origins Pulp Fiction blush. UU/R/H. I bought several, and even had another
a.f.er score FIVE for me at an outlet, yet I am seeing pan in my last one.
(If you are hoarding this one, please contact me!)
Chanel powder blush in Caprice. UU/R/H. Almost as good as the Pulp
Fiction. Also discontinued. (Pale, blue-based blushes don't seem to last
long on the market.)
Paint Cosmetiques powder shadow in Rain, which was later renamed Cloud.
UU/R/H. A neutral beige with the slightest hint of shimmer. I've used up
two, purchased several more for hoarding purposes. (The company told me it
was a very popular shade and would not be discontinued but I hoarded anyway.
Now, their website is "unavailable".)
Clinique Touch Tint cream shadow in matte gray. UU/R/H. That's the problem
with discovering a product at the outlet store. It's already hoard-worthy
before you even know if you'll like it.
Nars Dolce Vita lipstick. UU/R. My first one was a gift from an a.f.er.
I've bought two more--three if you count the one that my mother kidnapped
from me before I even opened it. It's the only lipstick I've ever used up,
let alone replaced. It's pictured in the new In Style and described by a
makeup artist as being *the* universally flattering lippie. Guaranteed to
become scarce for awhile.
