Mildly breezy and dry. Was sleeping earlier so saw no rain, if it rained.
Kids get a free day off school today for no reason.

It rained here in Lee County all thru the night and still raining. No
high winds that I've noticed here. I've had no local news since last
night; cable been out, just came back on. I'm very happy with Ernesto!

A while back CNN showed its new vastly expanded Storm Center to handle news
of hurricanes this year. NOAA has also expanded its facilities and the
other news channels have apparently done so as well. After Katrina all of
them know of the tremendous public appetite for hurricane news. As we have
already seen they have hyped Erensto incessantly for days- and it is just a
tropical storm.
Hurricanes have become entertainment, unfortunately, and we can expect every
tree that blows over, every stream that floods to be news- and every
reporter on the East coast to be leaning sideways in a storm telling us how
bad it is. Like everything else on TV news we will now have to take the
hype with a grain of salt- along with the wind and rain.
