S'more fun.
I discovered today that the all American campfire treat was first seen
in a 1927 issue of the Girl Scout cookbook. Who'd have known it was that
old? (I may only assume it is older than that because it may have taken
awhile to show up in the Girl Scout cookbook.) I also learned that half
the marshmallows sold in the USA during the summer find their epicurean
toasted fate on the ends of sticks over a fire. The other biggie for
marshmallows is during the American Thanksgiving celebration where most
marshmallows end up atop sweet potato casseroles. Also, I learned that
(surprise!) the most graham cracker sales are during the summer.
heh!
For those who do not know what a S'more is.... it is a graham cracker
snapped in half and a thin cut of chocolate place on one half, a large
marshmallow on top of that and another slice of chocolate on that and
then topped with the other half graham cracker and then the whole thing
toasted over the camp fire 'til the chocolate melts and the marshmallow
begins to collapse. (easiest way to do it is with a long handled pair of
tongs.) No Girl Scout or Boy Scout camp out is ever complete without
S'mores. (And big people camp outs, too!)

I'll have to find some of my old marshmallow recipe booklets
and see whether s'mores appear in them. One thing I DO recall
is that one of them advocated topping tomato soup with
marshmallows. Yuck!

Ever tried it??
Might work cause soup can be acidy (is that a word?)

You try it and give us a report! This did precede the
appearance of HFCS in tomato soup....

I do not like tomato soup at all so I have to pass.
OTOH I make my (regular) oatmeal with chicken broth:-))

I eat my peas with honey.
I've done it all my life.
It makes the peas taste funny.
But it keeps them on my knife.

I use miniature marshmallows in my frozen cranberry salad.
