Are in our stores now. In case you don't know what a Vidalia is....
While in Florida I would bug the produce man as to when we would get a
shipment.
Well, they are here.
Now.....before JD comes in and raves about Texas Sweet Onions....yes, they
are good. I buy them when I can't get Vidalia's. But, cannot compare with
our Vidalia's. I love them so much I could probably peel one and eat it
like an apple. But, Stan won't kiss me goodnight if I do.

I guess I'll have to try them again. We were traveling once and
stopped in at a Roy Rogers, our first time there. I ordered a
hamburger and it was the worst hamburger I've ever had in my life. I
told David the onions were rotten. Later a friend said they were
Vidalia onions. Maybe they are better if they aren't in a Roy Rogers
hamburger!
Do you use them like regular onions? I've always enjoyed an onion
sandwich with butter and salt and pepper.

I assure you those rotten onions were just that. A fresh Vidalia is like
an apple.

Perhaps you should try them on a turkey burger???? 8^)

Actually, Jeanette, Stan eats whatever I put in front of him and says it is
great.

Mumble, mumble... Dare I confess that I've never eaten a
Vidalia onion? I am not a fan of raw onions. Is there any
possibility I would like these?

Dunno, Jean. I happen to luv onions, so I can't tell you any different.

What else do you do with them? Any special dishes for them? If they
just replace a regular onion I think I like the ones that bite back.

I guess I'll get a bag and try them out. I like the idea of being
able to eat one like an apple. :-)

All kinds of recipes for them, Dalin. I just use them in everything. Today
Sue...
they are in my spicy marinara sauce and they will be on my salad.
I really must learn how to do a "bloomin" onion with them.

Now I have to ask you .... if the marinara sauce is spicy why would
you use a sweet onion in it instead of a strong onion?
And you can't have a "bloomin" onion! Bad, bad, bad!

Guess the same reason I like sweet and sour!
And yeah, I know....it's deep fried. Sigh!
taint fair, is it?

LOL! Yes the Vidalias are very good. It is a fun match between
competitors in the onion biz. The very same hybred is raised in many
places but it would seem the soil near Vidaila is perfect for sweet
onions... and they are great. But then, so are the Noonday onions from
Noonday, Texas. (Which I am given to understand is the same onion.) My
brother worked for Delta many, many years and he'd see people flying in
and out with boxes of both onions, coming and going. I'll get my
Vidalias just as soon as my bro flys back with his box.
