puppy love

ok, i'm having trouble learning puppy love...

- when i'm away from the house more than 10 milliseconds, i'm rewarded with
many minutes of face licking and jumping up and down and running through
every room in the house at least 3 times and then another face licking..
(uh, i'm referring to what the puppy does; not to what dalin does.. )

You can relieve any separation anxiety she displays by ignoring her for
the first 15-20 seconds when you come in the door. Dogs are pack
animals, and if you give her attention immediately, she will understand
from that that she is the pack leader, and responsible for you when you
leave the pack.

If you ignore her for a few seconds, she will understand that you are the
pack leader (or Dalin is, more likely) and will stop worrying every time
you're out of sight.

Of course, I discovered this bit of doggie data *after* I no longer had a
dog. :-p

- when i sit for more than 3 minutes i usually find a puppy toy being
thrust into my hand... an invitation to play...

- or sometimes it's one of her favorite items, such as a chew bone, being
dropped loudly at my feet... i mean, that's a gift of *love*... but how do
i respond? and there she sits with these large brown eyes....

- when we awake in the morning, there's at least 10 minutes of hugs and
kisses and sharing of how much we've all missed each other... since last
night... :) my face and hands are all wet after all of this... :)

i'm getting spoiled... :) i'm beginning to wonder why dalin doesn't
exhibit this level of affection............... LOL

* We had the same welcome with our dog Aure but she weighted more 60 kg. She
was a great pyrenean dog

I have to laugh at this image, Huguette--the one of Dalin
behaving like Shadow. It would be rather comical perhaps--but
it would also be pretty obnoxious. That gets back to what we
tolerate and even love from animals and would not like from
humans.... And unconditional love..........

he backed away? How come Shadow can do it and I can't? I am mightly
offended!

Well it's you or the puppy. And she always gets to you first!

She moved her whole bed to sleep next to you on the floor, dragged it
there for three days before we decided to leave it there. How can I
compete with that? :-)

Do you really want Dalin slobbering all over your face and licking your
hands, dropping chew bones at your feet????????? Think about it and I'm sure
you'll agree Dalin is doing just fine.
