Well, I had to share this with someone, so you're it.
Friday I found out that my left carotid artery is 75% blocked. That
complicates my surgery schedule a little bit. On the 9th I have a meeting
with the Neurosurgeon. We will discuss the schedule. He was going to do my
lumbar spine first. Then my neck. Now we might have to do the spine and
then the carotid artery and then the neck. This will take place over
several months I'm sure.
We didn't know about this until my Cardiologist came back from vacation last
Friday. The Neurosurgeon was questioning the risk rate of doing surgery
until the carotid was fixed. I won't know anything about what is going to
happen until I meet with him.
Needless to say, my anxiety level, and the pain level is elevated. The pain
is getting worse, but now I add the anxiety.
A fine kettle of fish I'd say.

I know you want the neck and spinal surgeries to get rid of the pain
but could they do the carotid first? That seems like the lesser
(least?) of the three. Then pick the more serious of the other two and
proceed from there.
I am so sorry you are caught in a round-robin of pain causing stress
and more stress causing more pain. All I can offer is sympathy and a
great big hug.

A fine kettle of fish, indeed! I'm so sorry, Don! It's good they found
out, though. I hope the Neurosurgeon and the Cardiologist can work it out
to get everything fixed as quickly as possible.

Hi Don,
Decided to do a bit of 'surfing' and dropped in to fiftyplus, only to
read this message.
I am so sorry to hear that you have all these problems.....I do hope
that the surgeons can come to some decision and at least releive your
pain.
jingles - who hopes you have a long memory.

Hi, jingles. I'm sure Don remembers you, I do. Maybe you'll drop in more
often to say hello.

Bummer city, Don... seems like the news never gets better for you somehow.
Hope some stuff clears up pretty soon...

I hope so too, Don. I'm going to put you on my church's prayer chain.

Won't that be wonderful Don? And your girls will love it too. You'll
have to be careful though they don't get all tangled around your legs.
I'll be praying for you and a successful outcome when you have
the surgery.

Oh, Don that's the pits. It's much easier to say than do but try to not
stress too much over it. You have out support for everything working out as
quickly as feasible. ((((((((((((((Don))))))))))) and a tiny hug for
((Devil))

Don, are they being too careful in managing your pain? Can you get a
referral to a pain clinic until your surgery? There are things
besides medicine that might be able to help I think. Biofeedback,
acupuncture, hypnosis etc.
I'm so sorry you have to go through all this.

Don I can recommend accupuncture. For me it removed pain about 12 years
ago, and they (pains) have never returned.
And I have a great belief in hypnosis, even though I have never tried it
myself.
