Saw Dreamgirls (the movie)

did you like the movie, beth? it was heavily hyped on many TV shows and
that always makes me nervous about seeing the movie... my inference is
that it's a takeoff on the story of the supremes?

I thought the movie was fantastic...so well done. It is based on the story
of the Supremes. Lots of singing, and sort of old fashioned in a way, as
parts of the story were done in song...
It will be interesting to see what others who see it think. I am sure some
will hate it, and probably, most young people won't get it.

I had read that Beyonce was totally eclipsed by Jennifer Hudson. I can
hardly wait until it's on digital cable.

David & Marilee.......... it's a marvelous movie. Both my daughter and I
really enjoyed it. I'm sure when it's in the video stores I will rent it to
see again. And, without a doubt Beyonce was "totally eclipsed" by Jennifer
Hudson. Every actor in the movie was "totally eclipsed" by her. She
completely captured every scene she was in.

And if you see the movie, no matter if you like it or not, one thing is for
sure....Jennifer Hudson is amazing!
I don't watch American Idol, someone here would know, why she didn't win.

well, i loved the supreme's music, so it sounds like a movie we would
definitely enjoy. thanks!!!!

Beats the heck out of me. I think she came in third when she was on American
Idol two, possibly three, years ago. When the public does the voting it can
be so skewed.....looks, weight, youth appeal, almost anything can make it
not a true vote as far as I'm concerned. I don't understand why in shows
like that you can vote as many times as you want during the time the voting
is open. Most of them you can call in as well as text message. If you are
not aware of it take my word that teens and young adults can text message in
their sleep with their toes. Which means, they could dial in and text in at
the same time. :-)

What surprised me about her performance in Dream Girls was not her voice
which I already knew she had but her acting ability. Both my daughter and I
agreed that she carried every scene she was in. That includes both male and
female actors who are considered heavy hitters.

Agree with you on that....wonder what they paid her for the movie...
