I have no idea what it's called, but my brother gets something at Canadian
Tire (which is a big automotive/hardware store) for washing grease off his
hands when he's been fixing motors. I don't know if it would affect the
colours, but as a last resort? David must use something similar.

There is an Amish quilt store in Westfield, NY. Take Rte 20. Turn left
onto Felton Road. Turn left onto Fish Road. (The brick ranch house on
the left is where I used to live. )There are two roads that come
into and end at Fish Road , one on the left and one on the right.
Keep going and then take a right at the first cross road. The store
is on the left.. :)

Thanks Norma. It might be fun to go and look this summer.

I just bought it last May down in Tenn. I've used it on our bed since
then, folded down at night. This was the first washing. When it came
out of the wash machine there was a huge black grease spot on it.
It's ruined. :-( The repairman is coming tomorrow afternoon. A
friend suggested it might be a broken seal in the transmission.
Well the machine is 20 years old so I don't know if it can be repaired

What a shame, Dalin. I would be in tears also.
I remember having a beautiful old down comforter, washing it and having
nothing by feathers left in the washing machine. Of course, I was
young....didn't know that I shouldn't have washed it.

I used to have a down coat that I put in the washer. Maybe because
the quilt was old the threads gave way. :-(

Oh no! Of all times for that to happen. :-( I thought you
were gonna say a little furball had shredded it or something.

Don't give it up until you use LesToil on it. If it hasn't been in the
dryer, the LesToil will take out the grease.

You have my sympathy Dalin. You might take it to a good dry cleaners and
see if they can do anything with it. I am sure there is some way to
salvage it.
**Dalin**...

that's a thought Arch. :-) They're supposed to know how to get out
stains. I think I'll try the Lestoil first though. Dry cleanin a
quilt of that size is very pricey.

Dalin- could you possibly repair it with an alternate piece of
material sewn in its place?

If you think it is ruined anyway, go to your automotive store and get a
can of "Gummout" and try that. It just might work.

thanks Norma. That sounds like a last resort if nothing else works.

LOL! it would take her a few weeks to do that. I just hope I don't
need a new machine. We're leaving on the 11th and I don't know if I
can pick one out and have it delivered before then and I have a pile
of summer tops to be washed because it will be warm down south.

Down to Tenn., Nashville. David is giving a presentation to an
educator's conference there. After, we'll go to Little Rock to see
his mom. We'll probably be gone about two weeks cause we might stop
in at Gettysburg on the way home or visit Hampton, VA where we used to
live a zillion years ago. We've talked about doing that for years,
but at the last minute we always say maybe we'd like to remember it
the way it was.
