We're back!

We're back. :-) We had a nice relaxing time but we had a rainstorm
one night with small hail and it brought back so many memories of
waking in the morning, everything wet and cold. Well it sure wasn't
cold but everything was wet and humid, humid, humid! And hot, hot,
hot! And the bugs were out in full force. Some things about camping
I had forgotten like spraying smelly sticky bug spray all over your
body. Ugh! David said "Are we having fun yet?" We agreed it was
fun, cooking outside, staying out late with a candle on the table, the
radio softly playing and looking at the stars. Walking to the
bathroom in the wee hours of the morning with a flashlight trying not
to step on little toads. Getting up in the mornings and finding the
picnic table soaked and the towels we had hung out the night before
all soaked was not *too* much fun. It was "funner" when we were 40.
But there is still that same relaxed feeling when you climb in
bed at night and look up through the moon roof and see the trees and
stars and hear the rain hit the roof. And there is no computer, no
newspaper, nothing but the quietness of the woods broken by a
woodpecker, a frog croaking, a songbird welcoming morning.

Yeah...Mom and Dad are home...hope you had fun..us kids behaved
ourselves..you would be proud... ;o}

Did you do your homework for summer school, as you promised? And weren't
you going to overhaul my motorcycle carbueretor while I was gone? And why
is the sink full of dishes? and, uh... there are empty beer cans on the
lawn... there seem to be some food stains on the carpet, too. uh, any
ideas? Yes, you can tell your daddy... honest, he won't get mad...

Here just give them back when you are through looking at whatever it is kids
look at?

Actually, last week mom and dad down the street took off in their
camper leaving a teen at home and said teen had a wild party. Cops
had to be called and I guess the house and yard were trashed. I
really felt sorry for the parents, I'm sure they felt they could trust
their son.

What even good kids seem to fail to realize is that once you start an
illicit party and word gets out, you can't control it any more. So the
kid may have thought he was just having a few friends over and the whole
world showed up.

Still, I hope they make him clean and fix everything himself. :-)

Yeahhhhh. I do mention this to Leah when I go out, and she
expects a friend to come over....

I got smart this summer...could not get the grandkids to find summer
jobs...so packed them up and shipped them to Mom's for the last 4 weeks...it
has been so peaceful here... ;o}

Oooooh, Shirley, that must be so nice for you. I'm also glad
to see you. I was getting worried because I saw at least one
post from you quoted, and I never saw the original....

Anyhoo, how are you celebrating your peace and quiet? Just
vegging out (which might just be the most peaceful and
pleasant thing you could do)?

I think I'd prefer to camp in the spring or fall, when it is
cooler and crisper out.... How is Shadow doing with the camping?

I have to admit that them there bugs sure make a misery of it. Nothing
like a ton-o-mosquitoes or biting flies to drive ya nutz! (and that
nasty spray on stuff is just the pits, IMO. Ick!)

Well, glad ya made ot safe and sound... sorta.
