Changing Lanes Last Exit
We drove off the exit ramp onto Alligator Trail, turned left on Palm Tree
Ave, right on Sunshine St.,right on Tropical Blvd. left on Flamingo Ave.,
left on Golden Sands Drive, right on King Neptune Ct. and into my son's
driveway.
We stepped out of the air-conditioned car into 97 degree heat. From out of
the house came my son,Matt, with an ice cold bottle of beer for his ol dad
(Matt will be receiving everything in my will), followed by our
daughter-in-law,Kim, our eight-year-old grandson,(we named him after my
grandfather)his name is Grandpa,and our 3- year-old grandaughter,Raelynn.
We spent 5 days with the children while my son and his wife took a short
child-free vacation.
In those 5 days my wife,Butterkup, turned on the children. She went from a
gentle-loving grandma to the wicked witch of the North. After chasing the 3
year-old for one day, All I heard was, "I'm too old for this sh..!"
I,on the other hand, was an island of calm and security that the children
could escape to when threatened by the evil woman. I kept saying to

Hmmm. 'An island of calm and security'. That means that you were
a) sitting and watching tv
b) sitting outside and watching the kudzu grow
c) sitting at the kitchen table watching BK cook
or
d) sitting watching BK try to control the kids.
Sigh. I wish my crystal ball told me something else, but I'm sorry to
say that's all.

her,"Please watch your language Grandma, these children will repeat those
bad words."
To which she hurled a two word invective that would make most salty
Southampton sailors feel very uncomfortable.
We were both exhausted when the parents returned. They in turn were happy
to be back. They brought things back for the children and when my
daughter-in-law gave the 3-year-old a bag of vegetables, the sweet child
replied, "I'm too old for this sh..!"
We were soon on our way retracing the path that led back home.

LOL! I love to read about other people babysitting their grandchildren,
knowing that I'll never have to do that.

Sounds like BK didn't get too much help from you. LOL! We wives know
all about those "islands of calm and security" that are usually
sitting and watching tv.

I love your grandson's name. It's nice to carry on family traditions.
It's also nice that Butterkup had someone around who was so calm and
collected. On the other hand, watch yourself. I know she reads
mysteries and she may be thinking up new ways to eliminate aggravation.

I figure I will just lock him outside and let him go sleep with the cows.
That'll teach him to keep his big mouth shut.
