Sue...
is THE GREAT AMERICAN SMOKEOUT!
If you are still doing it.....think about it.
If you are someplace else beside USA....think about it.
If you have already quit....Good for you!
Sue
One year, two months, 2 minutes and 25 seconds. 8520 cigarettes not smoked,
saving $1,278.13. Life saved: 4 weeks, 1 day, 14 hours, 0 minutes.

Huguette...
now even without cigarettes to smoke.

Huguette...
in public places, in manufacturies and offices and over all in restaurants
.........we will be able to know the true taste of what we are eating
without smoke hangs in the room, without disturbing odours.
So, thanks to those we help to make the life more enjoyable.
Huguette

Joy...
Congratulations Sue! And congratulations to all who have managed to quit.
I know it isn't easy.

Anne Jackson...
It's one of the _easiest_ things to do...I've done it dozens of times! ;-)

Sue...
Same here, Anne. I hope it sticks this time.
sue

Phyllis Copp...
I quit dozens of times too, it seemed to get a bit easier each time I quit.

Phyllis Copp...

Phyllis Copp...
times!

I finally made it! It's been seven years now. Every time I go to the store
and see the price of a carton of cigarettes, I'm very happy that I did!
$45-$50 a carton here!
Phyllis

Sue...
Not easy, for sure. Smoking was perhaps my best friend....sad to say.
Always there when needed.

Anne Jackson...
That's the same as I pay for a pack of 100 (5x20) Are yours packs of 200?

Chakolate...
A carton contains 10 20-cigarette packs.

Phyllis Copp...
There are 10 packs of 20 in a carton.

Joy...
Congratulations, Phyllis! In California we just barely missed passing a
bill that would add a tax of something like $3.50 a pack. The idea is that
the tax money would be used for health care and stop smoking programs, and
the price increase would encourage some people to stop and discourage young
people from starting to smoke. I suspect that bill will come back in a
couple of years and will pass.

Phyllis Copp...
Even at the high price of cigarettes you still see the young and the poor
smoking, I don't know how they can afford it, but they do!>
Phyllis

Joy...
I know, but as my son said, if even one or two people decided to quit or not

Phyllis Copp...
0

to start because of the cost it would be worth it.

Phyllis Copp...
did!

david...
ya' know... if you lived in New York, you'd have saved $2,045.00...

Phyllis Copp...
At least it's not "the in thing" to do now. When I was young, everyone
smoked, and they smoked every where, even on the buses and trains. We could

Huguette,

I forgot about the smokeout. I quit one time and smelled the air around
here, and ate the food in the restaurants and went back to smoking:-) No,
just kidding. I'm a long time smoker and I respect the rights of those who
don't smoke (my Bride was one of them) and I don't smoke around them or near
them. So far so good, well not so good when you think about it, but I've
checked out clean after 55 years of those devil weeds.

Don and his woeful Devil

even smoke out in the schoolyard! I don't let anyone smoke in my house any
more, they're welcome to come, they just have to go out on the porch to
smoke.
Phyllis

Joy...
I know what you mean. I have the same rule. When my kids were in high
school, there was an outdoor section, a boys' restroom and a girls' restroom
that were designated smoking areas. The restrooms were unofficial, but none
of the faculty or staff ever went in them. Neither did my kids if they
could avoid it. I was really annoyed, considering that it was illegal for
at least 95% of those kids to even have cigarettes, much less smoke them. I
didn't think the school should condone smoking.

Jean B....
Now kids can't smoke on school property. There's actually a
line on the sidewalk showing where they can light up. When
U;m really smart, I put the car's ventilation system on
recycle when I drive by that area.

Joy...
It is sad, but it's encouraging that there are so few of them. When I was
in high school, the handful of kids who smoked had to go across the street
from the school to light up. There were probably a hundred kids out in the
designated smoking area when my kids were in high school.

Jean B....
How many kids were in the HS? I think there are ca 2000 in
ours. I should pay more attention to those kids. Some I see
every morning. I don't know what the total would be.

There don't seem to be that many kids who smoke at the high
school. Probably no more than 15 kids there at any one time.
But it's sad to see that they have started even knowing what
we know now.

Dalin, dancing around computer, doing a happy dance for Sue. :-)
Good going Sue!
