Mikals11...
This will be pretty neat if it works out....

JD Cooper...
DANG! They don't show any schematics or tech illustrations of how it
works! (I thrive on technical details and diagrams, not words)

david...
when i think of TRUCKS, i think of big al and JD... they know TRUCKS!! not

JD Cooper...
THANKS! You and Lou! I dug thru them.

Here's a good one form those links:

I really like this!

the little stuff we call trucks... i think JD calls them pickumuptrucks..

Optimum Engine Control. The engine pump pressurizes and transfers fluid from
the low pressure reservoir to the rear drive pump/motor, and under certain
operating conditions, to the high pressure accumulator. In the full series
hybrid design, there is no conventional transmission and driveshaft
connecting the engine to the wheels freeing the engine to be operated at its
maximum efficiency "sweet" spot to achieve optimum vehicle fuel economy.

Couple this up with solar-recharged electric motors to power the engine pump
and you've got a vehicle that runs for free as long as you can see the
sun.... add a few batteries for weight and storage and you'll run
forever.... ;-)

I might be wrong but the one point I picked up was it seems to need a "heavy
type" vehicle to work.... but ya know.... its about time the mfg's start
building vehicles for different uses.... Theres no reason to make every
truck and car a world traveler.... cars and trucks used in the cities don't
need speed and power like a cross country vehicles.... and the new little
hybrids (elec/gas) are perfect for city use, but here again even they are
build too powerful for city use only....

Chakolate...
That may be true for some cities (although I can't think of one) but not
here. You need power for the expressways, at least, and lots of other
situations come to mind, too.

I'm waiting to hear about the plug in electric cars that'll come with a
pre-build solar charging station.... Just think.... right now you can buy
solar collectors that mount on your roof top.... Change the idea of them
being for the home a little and you have a charging station if you just add
a few storage batteries.... During the day the station charges up and at
night it charges the vehicle back up.... Mikal the Dreamer.... ;-)

Joy...
How about solar panels on top of the car?

Joy the impractical

Jim Everman...
This might give you an idea..

Joy...
So maybe it isn't impractical? ;-)

JD Cooper...
Every time I am aboard farm equipment and using the hydraulic systems to
power/lift/propel machinery and attachments I am in awe of the brute
force of it. Even a small thirty or forty HP diesel tractor can power
its way thru things with amazing efficiency. Often I wished that my
pickup trucks could use that type of locomotion. This whole idea of
using hydraulics to propel the wheels is exactly what I had in mind. Of
course, I'm sure there'll be some long running technical improvements in
the works before such a machine could cruise efficiently at highway
speeds pulling ten thousand pounds of trailer, equipment, and horses.

... but the real thing.. big honking engines, stump-pulling torque, neck-
jarring rides, altitude-sickness seats, muscle-wrenching steering, leg-
breaking brakes. real TRUCKS!!! :))
