How do you nuke a potato?

Paco...
Do you wrap it in Saran Wrap? How long do you nuke it? This is a baking
potato.... But it was among the smallest ones I could pick out.

**Dalin**...
If you're going to microwave it, poke holes in it. Otherwise it could
explode. In the micro you don't need to wrap it in anything. How
long you cook it depends on the wattage of your microwave.

Joy...
Or you can wrap it and not poke holes in it. See my response to Lou.

**Dalin**...
Does the Saran Wrap come off easily? Seems it might stick together.

Joy...
It peels off very easily. I used to use it a lot to cover things I was
nuking, and never had a problem with it. Then I got a plastic cover you set
over the plate, so I usually use that instead of Saran.

**Dalin**...
I'll have to try it and see which way I like best. Sometimes when I
nuke the potatoes and they cool a bit they get shrively.

Dalin

Crusher...
I find it puzzling that when I microwave beef stew or any soup with potatoes
in it the potatoes still explode. I use a 24 oz. ceramic soup cup with a
plastic lid and sometimes the explosion blows the lid off the cup.

Crusher...
That's the funny part- I DO just sit the lid on the cup, which doesn't even
sit flat, and the lid even has an open vent- but it still sometimes blows
off.

Jean B....
Heh. Don't you love that? One takes all reasonable
precautions and still ends up with a mess.

Lou...
You still need to stab several times with a fork that has long tines.
