I mentioned earlier some antics of the health and safety Gestapo. This has
been going on for some time, and I strongly believe they go around looking
for things they can rule on, to justify their existence, and in some cases,
to be able to throw their weight about.
My shop made and sold sandwiches, made on demand with the filling as
required by the customer. For this we had the separate cutting boards,
segregation and all that. I can fully understand the need. I myself detest
and will not eat bread or anything which has been in contact with onion,
cucumber or tomato, so we were always careful in that respect. The lady
came from the local Council to inspect and she came just before lunch, our
lunch, for which we closed the shop. She watched me make my sandwiches IN
THE HOUSE, not in the shop. Because I did not use separate boards IN THE
HOUSE, or use separate knives for the cheese, lettuce and bread, she said
she could close me down, the house and shop being considered as one. She
was on about cross contamination from one item to another, such as that I
mentioned above. She got very upset when I asked her to explain and show me
how to prevent cross contamination when the items met on the sandwich.
There was a case I read about. A man was appealing the arbitrary closure of
his restaurant by such a person.. He said he expected trouble when this
'slip of a girl' marched in, and just about her first words were 'I have the
power to shut you down' which she proceeded to do. He appealed the closure
and against her grounds for closure his answer was...... the 'dirty' cloths
on the kitchen floor belonged with the 'two buckets of filthy water' also on
the floor. They were being used by the cleaners who were in process of
routinely scouring the kitchen, and who were at that moment taking a break'

Sigh. What can one say about such lunacy?

There will come a time when _no-one_ will have any immunity to _anything_ is
all I can say.....mark my words!

That may very well come to pass. My house isn't conducive to
such a development though!
