i ordered some calcium tablets via internet and the vendor accidentally
sent flaxseed oil. they're correcting the mistake and told me to keep the
flaxseed oil as their apology for the error. so.... i'm familiar with
omega-3 from fish oil.... but what are the benefits of flaxseed oil? it
has omega-3, but it's different and any webpage i read just turns my eyes
around backwards and makes me dizzy... :-)) i'll appreciate feedback from
anyone who has more smarts here than i do...

We just had this discussion on another group I am on.

sue,
a big thanks! we already take omega-3 from fish due to the reduced sunlight
here and i wasn't sure about the flaxseed omega-3. sounds like it's a
worthwhile addition.. :)

Several herbal remedies have longstanding reputations as gentle, effective
treatments for high cholesterol. And they have the scientific research to
support their cholesterol-lowering capabilities. Consider adding one--or
more--of the following to your anti-cholesterol arsenal.
Flaxseed: Flaxseed and flaxseed oil contain omega-3 fatty acids, which are
thought to protect the heart and artery walls from the damage caused by high
cholesterol. Experts suggest taking 1½ tablespoons of ground flaxseed or 1
teaspoon of flaxseed oil a day for as long as necessary.
Some people consider flax seed oil unpalatable. It is actually very tasty
and can be used as part of the salad dressing (with vinegar or lemons) or as
a dressing for baked potatoes - after these have cooled down from excessive
heat. Never cook or bake with flax seed oil

I think it also has some Omega-6 and Omega-9, doesn't it?
david...
|
yes, jane. i think approx 60% is omega-3 and the rest is divided. i was
confused because fish oil omega-3 is different from flaxseed omega-3. i
don't like havng one term refer to two different things... :)

Oh, I forgot to ask, why are you buying calcium tablets? Is there some
special formula you need? Otherwise, generic tums are just as good.

|
i used to take generic tums, but they contain sugar and sodium. and price
seems similar.
