gruffydd...
or more accurately, the one to be reconditioned.
as you know I am to have my knee repaired, and as the time approaches I am
having thoughts about it, although I told myself not to even consider it.
That way, I cannot get worried. However, I have some questions to put to
the surgeon, Mr Chakarabarti, when I go to see him soon for the pre-op
weigh-in. When they did the arthroscopy a few weeks ago, it was told to me
that they would do the necessary repairs at the same time, smoothing out,
removing rough edges caused by the arthritis. I saw him afterwards and he
told me that they were unable to do any repairs as the bones and joint were
'too far gone' for them to repair.
He said that the full extent of the damage was not evident on the x-rays and
the scan for some reason. I was able to tell him that this was the case
when they did my spine. It was the intention then, after x-rays and scans,
to weld only one joint but they had to do far more than that when they went
in. So, what I have to ask is, what will he do if, when he goes in to do a
normal standard operation to replace whatever it is they replace, he finds
that it is too far gone or the bone is not suitable for that procedure.
Will he have to send out quickly for more gaffer tape and WD40, or for
spares other than those carried for the normal thing?
at the time of my spine they said that they would expect to find bones in
this condition on someone at 112 years old!, and that was 8/10 years
ago!!!!!!!
With this on my mind it is little wonder I have dreams. The worst one is
where I can walk only 'on the spot' like running on the spot, because one
foot is pointing forward and the other backward.
another is having to use a handle to wind the leg up and down to use it.

Joy...

Jean B....
I guess it's something one has to get used to. My time hasn't
come yet. Now, having said that...

**Lin**...

Stinkweed...
I just had my eyes tested today and he wanted me to have computer glasses
with no glare and a minor adjustment to my other glasses, and to put non
glare into them too. Seems I have a hole in my retina. It will have to be
fixed eventually when it becomes a problem. I don't understand it all too
well, but as long as it can be fixed I'm not going to worry about it.

**Lin**...
A good way to think! We have enough to worry about as it is. :-)

Lin

Stinkweed...
That is for darn shure, just one more thing what the heck. I want to see
those Golden Years and I want to see them NOW!

**Lin**...
As a friend of mine says "There's rust in them golden years!"

Lin
that's really good news Jeanette. I hope you can stay on the reduced
dose and it still works for you. I hope it helped reduce some of the
side effects.

Lin
((((((((((Gruffydd))))))))))

I hope you can find something to take your mind off of it, at least part of
the time, during the wait. And, of course, I hope it works perfectly.

Goromoff...
dinna fash, mate, yi'll be or'reight!

You're in the same Authority Area as I am, and I was reading that they have
new proceedures now, used to reduce costs.

They will whip off the leg just above the knee and fit you with a new
mahogany one. To aid mobility, they'll fit you with a small caster. Soon
have you whizzing around like a new-born!

Stinkweed...
Goromoff, I am highly shocked at your words. Now appologize to your brother
or I will tell MOM!

**Lin**...
MOM probably likes him better.

Lin

Stinkweed...
You know Lin I honestly doubt it, has he ever taught you new words? He
likes doing that you know!! I keep him in trouble constantly. ;-) But he

Goromoff...
you know you like learning new words, especially the ones that get you into
trouble when you use then at the wrong time in the wrong place!

I keep him in trouble constantly. ;-)

never was a truer word spoken!

But

always forgives me cause he loves me... :-) Watch he will try to deny it
but don't believe him.

**Lin**...
I'm glad to see you back. :-) You disappear every so often, don't
answer e-mail and I'm often left wondering. Next time I'll ask him!

Lin

Stinkweed...
I'm sorry Lin, I didn't realize I owed you an email, if you don't hear it is
because I forgot. Unfortunately they say the memory is the first to go..
:-(
Goromoff generally knows where I am, we are in another group together. I
stop by often to read, but I don't always post, plus I'm not on the computer
as much as I used to be. I would be on all day and I am trying to stay off
it more. I don't always succeed, but I am sure trying.

**Lin**...
So am I. I think I post just about 25 posts a day now instead of 50!
LOL! But today it's raining so it might be more. Bob and Evan will
be over sometime this afternoon so that will slow me down.

Goromoff...
all in your mind, Baby!

Stinkweed...
Some thing told me you would deny it but I "KNOW" better. I know what it
is, you don't love me, you wuve me. I got that wrong didn't I pumpkin?

Goromoff...
are you trying to ruin my reputation all over again?

mmj1...
The wait must be difficult. As for the dreams, I don't think that's
surprising either. My prayers & thoughts are that all will be just great!!

Stinkweed...
Well, I am taking baby steps, I have it on all day, I work around the house
then come back and check, then I work some more and I come back to check.
Of course you know I do spend more time watching the computer than working
on the house. At least I am getting up now and doing things. Hopefully I
will get to the place I only check morning and evening. Don't know if I
will make it or not as I love the computer. :-)

**Lin**...
Mine is in the kitchen and easy to look at every time I am here.
Which is often. And my stack of unread books is getting taller.
:-(
Lin

Stinkweed...
I do my reading when I go to bed, it puts me to sleep like a baby and I read
every night before I go to sleep. My Bears team is on now so have to watch
them. :-)

**Lin**...
I do too, but fall asleep in a few minutes! So I don't get very far.
And the next day I've forgotten what I read because I was tired and
have to start over again.

Lin

Stinkweed...
Laughing.. I believe that rust is the Golden Years unfortunately. We don't
move as good, when we do we creak and pop. Maybe some 3 in one oil would
help.

**Lin**...
I think we'd better drink it!

Stinkweed...
I have been reading here and I do believe that today is your birthday. I
wish to extend my Happy Birthday. I hope everyday is as special as it has
been today. {{{Hugs}}}

**Lin**...
Thanks Stink. The heavens cried all day. :-(

Lin

Stinkweed...
That is such a shame, I always hate it that our anniversary is in Feb. The
roads aren't always good to get to go out to celebrate. I have been out all
day today and I bought an African Violet. I have it on my desk so I will
have something pretty to look at all winter. I wanted to get a miniature
violet though but I just wasn't able to find one.

**Lin**...
Our anniversary always comes on or just before or after Thanksgiving.
This year it will be on Thanksgiving and I'll be in the kitchen
cooking.

African Violets are so pretty. They don't do well in my house as it's
just too dark. :-(

Lin

Stinkweed...
That happens sometimes to me, especially if it is a new book that I haven't
got into yet. Once the story gets interesting, I remember it. Problem is
unless I just fall asleep, I don't know when to quit and sometimes read late

Joy...

**Lin**...
LOL! I'm sure Gruffydd will take much comfort from this.

Lin
I used to have that problem. I'd read until I got sleepy, then decide to

I've found one can always count on a brother to say the right thing. ;-)

finish the chapter. By the time I did finish, I wasn't so sleepy any more,

Jean B....
Hehe. I thought I had no connection this morning. I was half
unhappy about that and half thinking I would actually get some
things done here.

Have fun with Bob and Evan. Try to get some pics!

so I'd start another chapter. After I finished a Stephen King book at 5:30
AM, I decided I'd have to change that, so now I almost always quit as soon
as I start feeling sleepy. If I have a page or less to go, I sometimes try
to finish, but usually don't manage.

Chakolate...
The last time I did something like that was when I read Schindler's List.
I started at about 4 in the afternoon, and had to stop at 7 the next
morning because my eyes were so tired I couldn't see the letters any
more. Finished it later that day.

I love it when a book grabs hold of me that way.

Jean B....
Yes, that's something that I TRY to pay attention to. It is
imperative that I stop reading if I am sleepy. Otherwise,
that magic moment passes....

Stinkweed...
Most of the time I can put it down in the middle of the chapter, but some
times the chapter ends so good I have to go into the next one and if it is
good then I make myself put the book down.

into the night.
