Communication problems

Joy...
My computer seems to be having trouble communicating. Several times over
the past few days, I have not been able to get on line, either through IE or
OE. I remembered being told to turn off the computer, the modem and the
router, in that order, and then turn them back on in that order. So far
that fixes the problem, until the next time. Today it happened first thing
when I booted up. I guess I'll just turn everything off when I shut down,
and hope I remember to turn the modem and router back on in the morning.

Today I've gotten several messages, usually when I was in IE, saying that IE
had committed an error and must be shut down. It even happened once just
now when I was in OE, although it said IE, and did not shut down OE.

As if that weren't enough, my computer sometimes doesn't communicate with my
printer. It happened yesterday when I was trying to print something for a
client. I finally got it to work again, but I was getting really
frustrated. I don't even know if that was a problem with my printer, or if

Anyway, if I suddenly disappear from here, it's probably because I can't get

Uh-oh. If the worst happens, I hope you are back soon!!!!

Thanks, Jean.

I'll be on the lookout for you today. I HATE computer
problems!!!!!

So do I! Last night when I shut down the computer, I also turned off the
modem and the router, and I turned them on after I booted up. I didn't have
any trouble getting on line. It's a bit of a nuisance, but it's a small
price to pay to keep things going.

Maybe that's what it needed? I sometimes have to reset the
router--or unplug and plug it back in. I haven't had a

BUT some other computers keep getting kicked off, so I guess
we're going to get a new one--and then the fun will begin.

I remember once I called tech support when I couldn't get on line, and
that's what they told me to do. It worked, and it has worked for me since I
started having the problem. This is the first time I did it from the
get-go. So far, everything is going smoothly, so maybe that's what I need
to do every night and morning. If that will fix the problem, great. I just
wish I knew where the problem was - my computer, my Internet software, the
modem, the router or my ISP.
