It's Winter

dae...
Well, to hear the weather guesser's going nuts it must be. They are
predicting anywhere from 8 to 16 inches of snow starting around midnight
tonight and continuing tomorrow. O'Hare is shutting down United flights
from 6A.M. to 12 noon tomorrow. I mean United is shutting down those
flights. We, in Indiana are expecting less snow and more freezing rain:-((

We'll see?

Chakolate...

Jean B....
That reminds me. I tried to show Mingy that he could get
under the covers with me, but he didn't like that idea at all.
I thought it sounded friendly....

Chakolate...
Don't give up. I generally hold the covers up so Doc can get in, and
very often he passes on it the first couple of times.

Once Mingy finds out how warm it is in there, you won't be able to keep
him out.
I finished with my last student at 10pm, and when I got outside it had
already started sleeting. I was supposed to see another student in the
morning at 9:30 but I called her and rescheduled. After a night of
freezing rain followed by dropping temps so that there is snow on top of
the ice, morning rush hour is going to be one for the books.

I shall be snug in my bed. :-)

Take care, Don.

Jean B....
Oh! I hate snow on ice. :-( I am glad you have some latitude.

Chakolate...

Jean B....
Well, he seemed to really not like the idea. I'll try again.
Of course, then I'd have to not roll over onto him.
From my window this morning it doesn't look so bad, but I'm glad I don't
have to go out until this afternoon. By then everything will have been
salted, and since the temp is right around 30 F the salt will work
quickly.

Don and his Devil

Jean B....
Now you just have to be in better shape all around! :-)

I'm glad you didn't get any serious snow, Don. Let's put that
off as long as possible!

My crockpots are in a similar state. I keep thinking I will
use one. I did decide that it was a mistake to get the fancy
one I got, which is part of the problem. :-(

Jean B....
Assuming you have electricity, tell us how it is there, Don.
I hope you and the furry gals have everything you need.

When I got downstairs before 6 this morning, it was 65F/18.3C!
I will try not to say too much about that a) in deference to
those of you who are struggling with nasty and cold weather,
and b) because our day will come ca Sunday/Monday!

**Lin**...

Jean B....
It's nasty here now--very strong winds and sometimes fairly
heavy rain. It's supposed to get worse, perhaps with
thunderstorms. BUT it is still very warm.

**Lin**...
It passed over us fairly quickly. But our back yard is flooded and so
is the end of the street where the water reaches to the front porches.
The ground was pretty saturated before it started. Looks like it
hasn't reached you yet, and tornado sightings in Western Ma.

Take care!
Lin

Jean B....
Well, as luck would have it, I was out driving when the worst
(at least thus far) rains came. That was only the second time
I have been out driving when it was extremely hard to see--and
both times I was on the same road much of that time. Odd.

What is hitting you next, Dalin? Is the temp dropping there?

**Lin**...
I'm a little late answering but the high will be 40 today and the wind
is fierce, gusting up to 50 mph. Very dark and 70% chance of snow
showers when the temps drop later. We were lucky though, I heard
nine people died in the midwest storm.

mmj1...
Guess I shouldn't say how cold it is here at night and how much I am
enjoying my new electric blanket. But, then again, I suffer in the summer.
Cuddle up!!
If you get freezing rain are you going to starve? Now's a good time
to get out that crock pot. :-) I hope you have a larder full of
canned goods. Please let us know what's going on. I'm sure it will
come this way.

Sue...
Oh, dear, Don.
It was 70 here today. And it's almost December.
We drove back through the mountains in rain, which was pretty scary, but it
was still close to 70.
I expect you will send your bad stuff my way now, huh?
sue

Norma...
We are supposed to get high winds later today and dropping temps.
Right now it is raining lightly and the temp a whle ago was 67. I put
the lights on my little tree outdoors and changed the outside door
lights to blue. :) A bit of door decoration and artificial wreaths on
the house and garage lights (along with the blue bulbs) have completed
my holiday extravaganza.

Jean B....

Bill and Judy Jenkins...
I left for Louisiana Monday morning and the bottom fell out Thursday or
Friday here. We left to return yesterday morning and spent the night in
Jackson TN and came on home today. There was no problems with the road
until we were 10 miles from home. (Makes me wonder where my taxes are going
locally)

Anyway, there is at least a foot of snow in our yard, can't even open the
back door, and the temp is supposed do drop to drop to zero tonight, Even
so, I sure glad to be home.

Bill

mmj1...

**Lin**...
We try! We have a little dog who likes to cuddle between us. Only
she insists on lying perpendicular to us with her head on my pillow.
She has the whole middle and we hug the edges!

I miss our electric blanket!

mmj1...
It's been so many years since I had one I had forgotten how comfortable you
can be under one with absolutely no weight. I don't recall the blanket being
as thin as this one but for me the thinner the better. So far I haven't
awakened one morning with my hip hurting me from getting cold in the night.
But, I still miss Cowboy. As the night got colder he gradually moved up from
the bottom of the bed to as close as a dog and human could be. So if I had a
choice of Cowboy or a blanket the choice would be Cowboy and to heck with
the hip.

**Lin**...
I know mj exactly how you feel. Even though David sleeps next to me
there is something about a tiny little dog snuggling up between you
that brings joy and comfort. Shadow starts between us and gradually
moves down to the foot of the bed where I have a fleece housecoat
bunched up for her. I think she only moves towards our feet because we
are both tossing and turning during the night and we disturb her
sleep. We don't turn the heat down as much as we used to just so she
won't get cold.

Chakolate...
If you still want the heat lowered, you could try a heated bed, maybe, or
a heated pad? Shadow's so small you could use a cat size for her.

Lin
I'm glad your home safe and sound, too. Stay warm and, hopefully, you'll be
able to open the back door before summer. :-)

Joy...
I'm glad you're home safely. I hope your power stays on so you can keep
warm.
I was up in Salem about 11:30-12:45 or so. It had been
raining lightly in Methuen, but seemed to stop almost right at
the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border. Since then, on the
circuitous route back and now at home, it has been raining
intermittently, but the winds are strong.

Norma...
So far, no wind here. I seem to be missed by a lot of the severe
weather you have. I'm not complaining, mind you!
Norma

Jean B....
Welp, I will put that in my hat for future reference.
