Sorry, I tried

Joy...
My attempts to get a phone number for Jeanette were unsuccessful. I tried
searching on the Internet, with varied unsatisfactory results. A couple of
sources listed several people by that name in her town, but required payment
for a phone number. Others had no listing at all. Then I called
Information and was told they had no listing. I tried both of the possible
last names.

Sorry, but I've run out of ideas.

Anne Jackson...
I'm sorry I don't have her on the birthday list....
Did Jeanette ever take part in Secret Santa?

Jean B....
I did about the same, Joy. I don't like the way those people
searches turn into some site that wants money. Seems to me
that a long time ago, that was not the case.

Chakolate...
If she's in a relatively small town, why not call the local sheriff's
office/police department? That's what I did when I couldn't get hold of
a longtime friend who was 88 at the time. They sent a car to her house,
and her neighbor told them that she'd gone off to see her sister. They
had the neighbor call me, for which I was eternally grateful.

Anyway, what's the worst they can do? Laugh at you?

**Dalin**...
Thanks so much for your time and effort Joy. Does anyone know her
daughter's name? They live quite close together.

dae...
Joy,

Just an idea, and I hope not to morbid, but if you or anyone knows her last
name, and the town she is from, try and web-search it for a newspaper. Then
look for the obit history. They sometimes have them. If nothing else you
might find out if her name is there, and hopefully not.

Joy...
That's a thought. I'll give it a try, and maybe others will too.

Anne Jackson...

Annie...
but
I don't know what the US version is like, but I find thepaperboy.com
a very useful resource, Joy.

Joy...
Thanks, Anne. I'll check it out. I searched the web for the town and got the name of

Annie...
her

Annie...
newspaper.

Annie...
nothing

the newspaper (The Bulletin), but there wasn't a listing at the paper's
website for obits.

I did here from pijoe, asking if I had a date of birth or approximate age,
so obviously he's going to give it a try. As I told him, one of the on-line
sources listed several people by the same name in her town. Two of them
(probably the same person) were listed as being 75. Does anybody have any
idea whether or not that might be right?

Anne Jackson...
That sounds about right, Joy. I know that Jeanette would've qualified

Jean B....
Oh good. I was thinking of asking Joe, but hesitated because
he's not on this group. He seems to have his ways....

for 70+ if such a group existed!

Bigbazza...
I think that is her age, Joy.. Reasonably so.

dae...
AnneJ,

Well, we've been together so long and we are nearing that age, well, some of
us, why doesn't someone start one? Must be a lot of folks eligible. Of
course we can still be here as well. Might pick up some new folks.

Anne Jackson...
Don medear, I wouldn't know where to start! If _you_ set one up
though, I promise to be your first visitor! ;-)

**Dalin**...

Bigbazza...
Next door to each other, Lin... I wish I could join in the search, but Oz is
so far away..I'm sure that one of you must eventually find out about ,
Jeanette. I certainly hope so..

All I remember (I think) is that she lived somewhere in 'Huston'..
But this group is so small ---- if some went to the other what would
happen here?

Chakolate...
Quite worrying, love. This place is so wonderful people are lying about
their ages to get in. :-)

Anne Jackson...
It's not an 'either/or' situation, though, is it?

We could all post to both! In fact, we would actively encourage it! ;-)

**Dalin**...
LOL! If we post to both why not just keep them both on one address?

Anne Jackson...
Because some shy and retiring person of 70+ might be reluctant
to post to a group full of raucous 50 year olds!

Bigbazza...
Anne..You would not be eligible ..You're only 68 ..

Anne Jackson...
No, I'm not! You're thinking of Bill's age... ;-)

Anyhow if we can accommodate forty-somethings in the 50's group, and
fifty-somethings in the 60's group, I fail to see why we can't have
sixty-somethings posting to the 70's group....it's not as if there's
enough people here, in their seventies, to make it a 'lively' group! ;-)

dae...
AnneJ,

Annie...
on-line

Anne Jackson...
I was wondering if Sinclair might have any info?

Looks like we are all growing up together we have been together so long now.
Might be some folks out there who want a more senior group, I don't really
know.
As for me starting one, I wouldn't know where to start.
Maybe David has an idea? That doesn't mean we can't continue to use the
ones we have.

david...
If Eugene is still poking around here or AFPF, he would be able to give you
firsthand advice from his experiences. personally (hindsight) i wish that
alt.fiftyplus were named something such as alt.seniorcitizens to
demonstrate that all are welcome. the name probably evolved from the early
alt.penpals.forty-plus.friends (name may not be exactly that... which then
generated the slightly different alt.fifty-plus.friends and then the
spinoff of alt.fiftyplus --- and i think there's an alt.sixtyplus... good
luck to you... :)

Joy...

Bigbazza...
Sounds pretty hopeless then.. :-((

Annie...
Hi Joy,
I just sent you an email w/my search results for Jeanette...maybe it'll help
you out...
Annie
There definitely is an alt.sixtyplus.

**Dalin**...

Joy...

Jean B....
I tried a similar thing.... Can't say I had any success, and,
in the case of obits, that's good.
Because the new group might encourage some new people to join.

mmj1...
To be honest with you all I prefer a group that has a larger span of ages in
it's name rather than narrowing it down to a smaller time span. True you can
post in those groups at any age but I prefer to be fifty plus even though I
have to put more pluses on it than I would like.

**Dalin**...
I agree mj.

Dalin

Annie...
Your reply, MJ, brought a late nite giggle!
Annie

Joy...
I'd just add it to the other groups I post to.
There is the Conroe Courier too and a listing for obits, but no way to
look up past one.
