I was gonna go out, but first I found the color quiz and then
I found the icon thingy, and now it's practically as dark as
night--obviously just about to be stormy. I may just as well
hunker down here..............
JD Cooper...
|
DANG! Would you please be so kind as to send some of that my way?
JD Cooper...
david...
|
gee, JD, don't you get any 'dark' down there in texas?... :) we get it
here every day...
JD Cooper...
|
It *just got dark* and rained agian! Myself is wet and happy!

|
|
heh! In fact we got some very badly needed rain over the weekend. It
totaled about an inch. It was kinda fun when it happened as all of us
were on the back porch chomping watermelon when we saw the rain come
from the South. In just a few minutes the wind blew up and the rain came
battering down on the tin roof! There we sat as the din pounded on the
tin roof while we all got drenched by blowing rain while we chomped the
melon. It was a nice, cool event considering it'd be in the 90's again
in an hour. As we speak there is another terrific godsend shower
pounding down. It looks as tho we'll get anther quarter inch!

Take it! Boy I wish I could send you some. I'd send some to
Oz too....

It's been raining off and on all day here. The big fireworks are
tonight at the lake. But if it rains they won't have them and Shadow
will be very glad of that.

We have a big controversy going on in my county. The Lions Club puts on a
fireworks show every 4th of July, and they always have it in a park next
door to the animal shelter. Animal lovers object, and the Lions defend
themselves by saying they're raising money for good causes and they don't
think it hurts the animals. :-( If the Lions are really so
philanthropical, they could move their show somewhere else.
Jean B....
|
Do they have other choices? Maybe there should be a petition.
Our fireworks, also put on by the Lions, is in the High
School's Field, along with the carnival....

There were tons around us. We also could see the 'big show' from a nearby
park. I was surprised at how many I could see around the neighborhood that I
knew were illegal. The noise went on until after Midnight. Seemed strange
after living for 12 1/2 years in a neighborhood with an association. Their
security vans made regular runs and the bicycle patrols went into the
greenbelt area to stop any illegal use. I think 11 o'clock was as late as
you could have the ones considered legal.
So did it rain? Poor little Shadow if it didn't. The cats were both under
something all evening but both are around this morning so obviously
survived.

It rained and all the fireworks were canceled, but she chose to sleep
under the bed for the first time instead of on it anyway. About five
in the morning she came to my side of the bed, stood on her hind legs
and tried to reach me to pat me. I could hear her little claws trying
to climb up and so I picked her up and we snuggled together.
|
|
|
Shadow slept under the bed last night instead of on it. And there
wasn't a single firecracker as it was raining. Funny, the night
before there were neighborhood firecrackers going off and she slept on
the bed and never moved.
Sounds like a place for you to stay away from where the street curves.

Do you think it makes me a geezer when I'm delighted if it rains to put
an end to fireworks? Last year, there were the official fireworks, and
all the neighborhood celebrations, and then just about 11, when everyone
*should* have stopped anyway but probably wouldn't have, it started to
pour. :-)

|
That sounds lovely, JD! Unfortunately, there's no chance of rain here.
Jean B....
|
Oh good! I do wish your area, and other parched ones, could
share more of the bounty.
JD Cooper...
|
Yeah... mebe we could get more of the bounty if y'all would quit hogging
it all!
Jean B....
|
Uh, more rain today. I think I'm gonna go hide now! ;-)
|
|
|
It's just hot, with more predicted. It will probably be around 100 when
JimE makes his jump on Saturday.
|
**Dalin**...
|
Hooray for you, and all the little squirrels and snakes that can't
find water. :-) An inch of rain is quite a bit.

Jean B....

I guess Boston's Esplanade just got some heavy rain.
**Dalin**...
Jean B....
|
She can't get up herself? Maybe she needs little stool....
Chakolate...
|
Please don't mention stool in a post about a puppy...
Jean B....
|
LOL!!! Step ladder? Is that better? :-)
|
|
**Dalin**...
|
If she can get up she can get down. Then she could go downstairs. I
don't want her downstairs, it's not dog proof.
|
|
|
Oh darn! I was looking forward to seeing the Boston Pops tonight at
10. Maybe they will play anyway since they are under the shell.
Jean B....
|
That was a short-lived rain. I heard fireworks a while
ago.... I assume the Pops played.
**Dalin**...
Jean B....

Can't you get a little baby gate?
|
|
I only watched about 15 min. of it. The program started out with the
"1812 Overture" and fireworks, though that may have been on tape since
they usually end with it. The host was Dr. Phil and his wife (yuk!)
and there was some guest guitarist, a rock musician I think. It was
pretty awful. I watched the end of the Macy's Fireworks Spectacular
and they were nice. But at the end of that show there was Lisa
Minelli singing something about New York, which had nothing to do with
Independence Day and it was pretty awful too.
**Dalin**...
Jean B....
|
That's too bad bu doesn't surprise me. BUT what are they
thinking, doing the 1812 overture then? :-(
|
|
They used to do a much nicer job when they showed the Boston Pops. I
sure don't know what happened.
