Bette...
After a crowded drive down the freeway to Long Beach, it was a pleasure
to see the "Queen" awaiting our arrival. She holds her own in port.

Stan...
Bette, I enjoyed reading your post about the "Queen". I would like to cruise
with her someday.

Stan :)

Three colorrful smoke stacks distinguish her from other ships close by.
Walking along her decks was a bit of a challenge in high heels, wood
planks a bit un-even. The party room was long with big windows.About
ten tables , 8 place settings each, all festivly decorated.
The view of the harbor and surrounding shore line demanded our
attention. A ferris wheel to the left, big blue acquarium, well lit, to
make sure it was noticed.
The guest of honor, Dennis, greeted all at the entrance to the room We
found our place cards at one of the tables. Drinks were available.
Everyone hugged and clasped hands.A lot of " remember whens" were
heard. A delicious meal was served, then a champagne toast to Dennis
after which he took the podium and spoke of his arrival to the States .
He did a brief run-down on each guest and the role they played in his
life, co-workers, bosses, etc.
Now and again he'd dab at a tear,( so did we).
He remarked on the size of the room the party was in ,compared to the
room he had on crossing 50 years ago. His Son and Daughter and
Grandkids were there.
I was so proud I was there ,and to realize how much I had meant in his
life as a friend of he and his departed wife.
We were all in an International club.. a part of the Welcome Wagon in
Manhattan Beach, Ca. Such fun to re-hash the highlights of those " good
ole' days."

So glad that ship brought Dennis from Yorkshire, England out of
Southhampton to us in the States. Bette
