Val Adams...
just posted a couple of pix to the blog. The great gaping hole I am digging,
and where some of the excess is going. Have some of MS. Cat to go up later,
though truly she is not being much help in the yard!

david...
uh, just what are you fishing for when you use beer? :) tall, unshaven,
muscular, ... etc, etc,... have you considered using beer and peanuts? and
maybe a splash of chips on the side? who knows what you'll 'catch'...

Val Adams...
LEPRECHAUNS, you goose! perhaps I should use Guinness...I know it attracts
engineers...

JD Cooper...
beer and BBQ works for tall, dusty cowboys..

david...
ya' know, I was thinkin' of you, JD... when wimmen use beer for a lure, I
suspect they're seekin' tall handsome texans.. is thet all one wurd? :)

Norma...
Phooey! All this time I've been using the wrong bait.

Norma - throwing out the tea and crumpets

Val Adams...
Possibly I should modify my specs...

Chakolate...
Beer, peanuts and chips for bait? That's just asking to reel in a pot-
bellied alcoholic. :-p

Val Adams...
uh..I was hoping for one that's green & has pointed ears..

Joy...
And a pot of gold?

Norma...
The house we bought in Florida had been surrounded with thorny
plantings. I eventually got rid of most of them. Only recently did I
learn that this is what _should_ be planted to discourage burglars
from entering first floor windows.

Jean B....
I understand that rationale. I had a first-floor apartment
(aka flat) burgled once. (I then moved to the scond floor.)
We do have some nice thorny plants under the massive front
window(s) but could use more in the back. Of course, that
leaves all the doors....

Lou...
Have seen little signs that could be put inside a window.

Jean B....
LOL! But would the would-be burglars necessarily get that?

Lou...
I think most would.

Joy...

Val Adams...
Not necessarily..there are more fun things to wish for.. ;)
Our burglars (we were burglarized twice) were high school students on their
lunch hour. The house is one short block from the back of the high school,
which made it convenient for them. They didn't get much either time - about
$15 in cash one time and a $45 calculator the other time. There were a
couple of other small things, but they didn't really get much at all. They
sure made a mess of the house, though. The second time, the kids were
caught by police. We weren't the only victims, of course. I think there
were four boys involved. The father of one of them sent us a letter of
apology and a check for half the amount we lost. We never heard anything
from the parents of the other boys.

Val Adams...
I just thought the stuff was romantic..till I got the bills for the kid's
clothes!
It didnt do a darn thing to discourage our burglars, either!
