Mouse woes

I is regusted! My old cordless optical mouse was acting up, and among other
things, it would tell me I needed new batteries even when I had just put in
fresh ones. I went on line to order a new one, and decided to upgrade to a
laser optical cordless. It's ergonomically shaped and feels good in my
hand. Unfortunately, so far that's the only good thing about it. Well,
that and the scroll wheel. It works fine, and will even scroll side to
side. My son-in-law finally got the battery cover to stay in place,
although it took him about 20 minutes to do it. However, if I go for more
than a couple of minutes without using it (for instance, if I'm writing an
email or playing a game that uses arrows instead of the mouse), it will
freeze. Not only that, it freezes my whole computer, and I can't do
anything but reboot. That gets old really, really fast. I'm also
disappointed that I can no longer set the scroll wheel to double click if I
click on it. I know that's a silly thing, but what can I say? I'm lazy.
I've also had problems with other programs since I installed it, and my
computer is much slower.
I sent Logitech an email today, but I'm sure there's nobody in the office.
In the meantime, I'm back to using a mouse with a cord and no scroll wheel.
Poor, deprived me. ;-)

That's really unfortunate. I hope they send you a free
replacement, Joy.

Thanks, Jean. That's a nice thought.
