Arch (TX)...
If anyone is interested I just posted three of my latest Macro
Photos on my gallery. First is a Garden Spider who decided to

Arch (TX)...
The full EXIF file comes up on my computer but here it is:

Date/Time 24-Oct-2006 13:13:23
Make Nikon
Model Nikon D200
Flash I attached a Ring Flash to the camera
rather than on the lens, light is more
even with that setup
Focal Length 105mm (Nikon 105mm Micro Lens)

Arch (TX)...
I have a Sigma 400mm lens that I bought many years ago and it does a
fine job. I have to use it on a tripod as there is no way to hold it
and keep it steady. In fact the tripop attachment is on the lens.

Exposure Time 1/200 sec
Aperture F/11
ISO Equivalent 400
Metering Multi spot
Exposure Manual

I took the pics in RAW mode, saved in TIF (about 56 MB each)
then lightened them slightly and saved in JPEG for emailing

Arch (TX)...
Forgot to mention that I did use Auto Focus. The camera, lens,
and flash make it a bit too heavy to hold and trip the shutter
with one hand while trying to keep in focus with the other. And
at those small distances from the lens you have very small depth
of field to stay in focus.

Michael Fanner...
I really don't have a problem using autofocus. I can still see when it's
right if I'm doing it manually but the camera never (or rarely) gets it
wrong.

put up a web on the outside of my glass door to the back porch.
I had to shoot through the glass door as I cannot open it without
possibly hurting her. The next two are a couple of House Flies.
Actually the same House Fly but the first is the overall side
view and the last one is a real close-up of it's face (just in
case you have never seen one really close face-to-face! LOL
You can click on the URL below and it will take you to the first
one, then you can pull up the next two after that if you wish.

Chakolate...
The spider is beautiful - nice shot, Arch. I suppose the fly is also
beautiful in its own way, but ... ehn!

Arch (TX)...
It is a shame, flies are very interesting critters but, at the same
time, very bad critters. They can carry all types of bad germs to us.

Chakolate...
It's one of the reasons I like spiders so much - they eat the flies.

**Dalin**...
I don't know what to say. Your pictures are fantastic but they give
me the shivers.

Arch (TX)...
Since the loquat trees in the back of our yard are starting to bloom,
they should be in full bloom in another week or so I expect to see lots
of opportunities for photos of honey bees and other assorted insects
seeking pollen and or nectar to refurbish their nest sites. Just hope
I can get some good ones. Then I can remove most of the old photos I
have in that gallery and replace them with some newer and, hopefully,
better ones. Honey bees are mainly docile little critters. I used to
put some humming bird nectar on my finger and they would land on my hand
and have at it. So cute. I have never been stung by one, of course I
don't give them a belly rub either. LOL I am going to try to get them
to eat of my finger again and get some photos if possible.

**Dalin**...
I'm looking forward to seeing them. I still think you should send
some of your photos to National Geographic or some magazine like that.
I bet you could sell them.

Joy...
I think they'd be perfect for Natural History! Also, photography magazines
would likely be interested.

Arch (TX)...
Thanks Beth, you are very kind.

Joy...
Wow! Talk about up close and personal! Amazing photography!

Arch (TX)...
Thanks Joy. I just wish I was still a bit stronger, would make it
a bit more fun to hold the camera up my eye easier and without
wobbling and a bit of shaky hands to go along. LOL

Numac...
Great pics Arch!

Arch (TX)...
Thank you very much.

Norma...
The shot of the house fly's face makes me think "Royal gemstone". But,
Arch, I have to admit that the spiders give me the shivers. You are
just too good.
Norma

Val Adams...
amazing! you, sir, are a wonder!

Arch (TX)...
Thank you, I keep telling people that but they don't believe me! LOL

Jean B....
All I can say is "wow" x3! What great pics, Arch!

Arch (TX)...
Thank you Jean.

Arch (TX)...
I saw that marking on her back, it sure does look like another face. LOL
