Sometime in the next few months, I'm going to have enough reading matter to
keep even me busy for a while.
I talked to my sister a while ago. I knew my mother had written her
autobiography. In fact, she sent me parts of it when she was writing it.
However, I didn't know it was 2,000 pages, or that she had had it bound - in

Is it handwritten or typed? Can it be computerized by a scanner with
OCR software?
If your mother lived many years in the same locale, the local
Historical Society may be interested in it as a written "oral history"
of the area. But, do read it yourself first :-)

It is typed and bound. Can you imagine scanning 2,000 pages?
My sister wants to give it to her son, who is interested in history. He is
also the most likely member of his generation to have children. We want to
keep it in the family.

Surely you could get it reproduced? I'd think you'd want more
than one copy. What a treasure!

ten volumes. Mama particularly wanted one of her friends in Valdez to read
it, and there is only one copy, so it will be a while before I get it, but
when my sister and the friend have finished it, I'm next on the list.

Joy, if she put it on a computer, shouldn't there be a digital copy

Oh my! That's astonishing, Joy! I was thinking you were
going to say 200 pages, which would be remarkable, but 2000!
Please tell us some of the highlights as you come across them.
Coincidentally, just tonight, I was once again, pondering
writing something--and I actually wrote some words. (No, not

those. Someone will understand this aside, I think.) And I
was hunting around on this computer for more prose that I
wrote a long time ago--but I think it was lost in some crash
or another....

what an incredible legacy, Joy. I do so hope you get to read it before it
is squirrelled away.
Joy...

Oh, yes. My sister has promised to send it to me once she and the friend
have read it. I know my sister is a fast reader. I hope the friend is too.

somewhere? You could read it on your computer. What's more, you could
share it with us. (Hint, hint.)

Joy....how wonderful! I wish my mother could have done the same.

Wow what a family history treasure. Let's see if I write mine I may be able
to get it up to 25 pages if I really use long words. :-)

*Pages?* I'm struggling for 25 words. My autobiography would make a good
epitaph.

Shall I compare thee to an hill of beans?
