**Dalin**...
where would it be and why?

Wendy Fanner...
And your wonderful wife lives there!!!!!!!

Wendy Fanner...
Not enough feeling matey.

**Dalin**...

Jakes...
just stay where I am, because

the weather is excellent
we have beautiful sunshine all year round
not to mention the scenery
and I love it here

but I wouldn't mind some island in the Pacific

Huguette...
There where always the sun shining Huguette
Wendy!!! The kidnappers let you go! :-) And Mick never told us.

Alexis...
The Highlands of Scotland because it's the most beautiful place I've ever seen
:-)

**Dalin**...

Wendy Fanner...
Dalin, they haven't realised that I've gone yet, so I'm keeping a low
profile. :)

Wendy Fanner...
well if I am it's for your benefit.

Jean B....
Someplace where there are lots of trees, no visible neighbors,

Bill and Judy Jenkins...
proximity

proximity to esoteric foods and ingredients and great medical
services, and moderate climes. You tell me!

**Dalin**...
Sounds great to me but I'm not sure such a place exists! Darn...
But I keep looking.

Knut Willy...
______________________________________________

You describe my country. Been here??

**Dalin**...

Jean B....
Well, that is my dream. In reality, this is tempered by the
thought that familiarity = comfort (not speaking of this town,
but the general vicinity).
I've seen all your snow!

NOspam...
Right here- I love it, and honestly feel I was led right to this spot
by the Good Lord Himself :o)

NHunkele...
Wherever I am at the moment is home. And I'm kinda tired of moving.
I've lived in the mountains, on the lakeshore, on the flatlands. and
I'm back in the foothills. I'm content now if I have family and
friends nearby.
Norma
Hi Alexis and welcome. :-) I've never seen the Highlands of Scotland

BunnyHare...
Oh I would have to agree with you there.
Spent a couple of holidays there and would certainly go back. Scenery
is lovely and the people are so friendly

Anne Jackson...
I agree with both of you....I live there!

Well, Perth is 'the Gateway to the Highlands'!

but I have seen pictures and you are right, it is breathtakingly
beautiful there.

Alexis...
Hi Dalin,

Thanks for the welcome :-) I traveled to the Highlands about 15 years ago and
just cannot shake the beautiful imagery of the landscapes. The weather was
incredibly moody and would suddenly change from dramatic, cloudy skies to bright
subshine within a few minutes. My guess is it's not easy to make a living there

Anne Jackson...
It's a well-known fact that we can experience all four seasons in the
course of a single afternoon, here!

but if someone could swing it financially, it would be incredible.

Anne Jackson...
It is!

**Dalin**...
Where do you live now Alexis?

I wonder if those Highlands are very cold in the winter? It could be

Anne Jackson...
Yes, cold....but not *overly* cold, like Canada!

very bleak and barren then.

Anne Jackson...
Yes, and that's part of the beauty....

**Dalin**...

**Dalin**...
How wonderful for you! Can't wait to see some of those photos. Don't
lose that camera. :-) We were just talking about maybe going to the
Smokies in June and renting a little cabin in the mountains. But it
depends on when the kitchen work starts too.
I know. The winters are bitter cold here but there is a beauty in
seeing a bare tree silhouetted against a grey sky, lifting its
branches to be buffeted against the wind and snow. Windswept hills
bereft of grass - but surviving, hanging on, struggling. These things
have a lonely beauty of their own.

Alexis...
I'm in New Hampshire, Dalin. You're probably right about the winter...I was

**Dalin**...
I do too! If not this summer we will go in the fall. How long will
you be in Scotland? Staying in one place or moving around?

there in September!

Jean B....
I'm in Massachusetts.... Welcome to the group, Alexis! I

**Dalin**...

**Dalin**...
Can't find Isle of Skye on the map. Is it off the northwest coast?

Anne Jackson...
Yes, but not _very_ far off, IYSWIM?

**Dalin**...
I can swim to it?

Anne Jackson...
Depends on how strong a swimmer you are? It's certainly not far....

**Dalin**...
I took the tour. It's absolutely beautiful there!! Even a couple of
abandoned castles.

Dalin
I don't expect I'll ever see Scotland, but we hope to visit the White
Mtns. in NH this fall. I've never seen them before and they are
probably just a day's drive from us. :-)

NHunkele...
Yep. Just about a day. :)
Norma

like your name. (It was my daughter's middle name--I say was,

NHunkele...
Hi Alexis. I'm down in the southeast corner of New Hampshire, near
Haverhill, MA.
I spent a day or two in Scotland about 6 years ago, on a coach tour,
also in September. Lovely country, great people.

Anne Jackson...
How clever of you both, to avoid "midgie season"! I suppose the
tour operators are well aware of the problem midgies cause?

NHunkele...
It just happened to be a convenient time for a friend and I to book a
trip. :)
Norma

Norma

because she never liked it, and she has changed her name
several times. I call her Leah on the group, but she no
longer uses that name....)

Shirley...
Home....I miss family...

Jean B....
Where is "home", Shirley? Any chance you will move back to
that area eventually?

BunnyHare...
I'd sell the house, buy a horse and caravan (don't drive so motorhome
would be no good) and set off travelling. Around the uk first then the
world
