Phyllis Copp...
I put a couple of new pictures on the blog, one was of our new bridge on
"walk the bridge" day, and the other is of some fall colors that I thought
were nice.

You know, I remember that old bridge in the background but I'm not
sure I remember the new one. They probably only had it partly
finished. It sure is pretty!

So are the fall colors. Love that red tree. Ours should look like
that in a few days but it's supposed to rain or snow the next few days
so it won't be very bright. :-(

very quickly on it. They found that the old one was unsafe and couldn't be
repaired, I'll miss it, the new one doesn't quite fit in with its
surroundings. But then, I'll get used to it! Most of our leaves are down
now, we've had a lot of rain and high winds the last few days. Pretty soon
everything will be white. )<:

beautiful!!!!! my first thought is to jump in the car and head to
bucksport. Dalin and i have always thought that was such a wonderful view
of the bridge and surrounding area. if God lives on earth, he lives in
Maine.... :)

Phyllis Copp...
I love it here in Maine, I never get tired of the scenery. After living half
my life in Boston, I really appreciate the country living.

Arch (TX)...
Very nice photos Phyllis. I like bridges, they are great for photos.

Phyllis Copp...
It was a beautiful day to walk across it, I think it's something like 2500
feet long. My son and grand daughter went with me. They had a parade with
the Air National Guard band, civil war re enactors, Scottish bag pipes and
lots of other things going on through out the day. They estimated that over
10, 000 people walked across the bridge that day, not bad for a small town
of 5,000 people! (>:

Joy...
Great pictures, Phyllis! The colors are gorgeous!

BTW, Dalin, your maple tree is gorgeous, too.

**Dalin**...
Thanks Joy. The sun was shining on it so brightly, I just don't know

I thought the new one was quite pretty but it is quite modern and I
can see where you think it wouldn't fit it with the town. I guess we
haven't been up that way in two years.

They rebuilt the motel where we used to stay right on the water into a
fancy hotel and room prices are three times what the old place was and
those are the cheap rooms that overlook the parking lot. We could
probably find a cheaper place in town but what's the fun of
vacationing in Maine if you can't be on the ocean? Smelling that
seaweedy air, the gulls landing on the balcony railing and taking
crackers from us ....

David just said we need to back up there this summer. And I agree.

Let me know when you're ready to come, I'll get you a list of Hotels/motels
on the ocean, or real close to it! Bar Harbor is beginning to get very over
priced, but people spend the money!! SW harbor and NE Harbor are close to
Bar Harbor, I bet you could get a really nice Hotel in one of those spots.
You could bring your camper and camp at the Seawall campground, right on the
ocean!! (>:

We've been to both those harbors and they are lovely. Also Bass
Harbor where we had a delightful chat with the man who runs a little
store there. Who says Maine folk aren't friendly? We've never run
into anyone who wasn't.

I guess we like Bar Harbor because of the touristy things, the boat
that takes you out lobster fishing, the sail boat, the nature trips
etc. It's hard to find a place in town to park though if you don't
stay in a local motel.

The camping place sounds nice. I never heard of it.
it's a funny year here for leaves. Some trees are bare and others
haven't even started to turn yet. We've had high winds too the last
few days, and lots of rain.

We just got our snow blower back from being serviced and realized it's
21 years old. I sure hope it makes it through the winter. If you
don't sign a contract with a snow blowing firm you can never get
someone to just come and plow if the blower breaks down.
when they reach their peak, we didn't have much red this year, mostly
yellows. It wasn't as good a year as some.

why the picture came out so dark. But I have really loved watching it
slowly change from green to gold to red; each day it's a little
different. I miss my tree in the front. :-(

I'm pretty sure it's in Bass Harbor, you might have missed it if you weren't
looking though. Usually when I go to Bar Harbor I find a place in the dock
parking lot, sometimes I have to ride around it two or three times but
people come and go there alot quicker then they do in town. They also have
free shuttle buses in the summer that travel the whole area, they're pretty
handy. When we camped out on MDI (Mount Desert Island) last month, we took
the bus right from the campground into Bar Harbor, that way we could have a
couple of drinks then catch the bus back to the campground! Much nicer then
having to drive back in the dark!

I think the colors come out better if you take a picture on a cloudy day,
the leaves really seem to stand out better.
