Bette...
My Son came by a few minutes ago in his beautifully restored 69
Camaro..he was going to run over to Calif. to get us some lottery
tickets. That car is very pretty and sounds great. BEtte

hmmm.... dual exhausts, glasspacks, yes, i'm sure it does... :)

Numac...
that would give it quite a cackle!

david...
i had a chevy 6 convertible with duals and glasspacks in the 50's... had a
sound you don't hear anymore, but very pleasant... the different firing
order from a V8 was key to the sound.

Numac...
My Dad and I rebuilt a 1946 Chevy in the mid fifties swaped out the
chevy 6 for the GMC 250 six split the exhaust ran three two barrel carbs
had two hollywood glasspacs painted in two tone gray over maroon 26
coats of laquer. Reversed the two tone inside. Ran like a scolded cat!
Dad had little trouble dusting flathead V8 Fords. I would love to have
one now.

you bring back sweet memories. i've read of those who swapped in the GMC
6 and it must have been a screamer. i think you can still get 3 carb
manifolds for the 6, and once-upon-a-time you could get headers also. i'm
curious... i think i'll browse around... like you, i'd love to have one
again... did you ever read 'hotrod' by henry gregor felson? the prime
character's main friend had a Jimmy-engined chevy... i remember it well.
i took the book to school one day and managed to read it in one day via
study hall and lunch period and other classes that weren't too
interesting... ..

Numac...
No have not read that book I will look for it though.

david...
well, it's a cult classic. i found prices from $40 up to $95. probably
didn't sell for more than $1 when new... BUT... i went to
read it and then sell on ebay for $50... ... however, the sister book
was 'Street Rod' and that was about the guy who had the GMC-chevy... and
they have that for $4.00.... :-)) i'm looking forward to getting the
'hot rod' book, as i read it last in 1957, sneaking it into geometry
class (no wonder i didn't get good grades there) and study hall.... will
be a kewl read... :)
