I'm sure she spat

Chloe, the young Lab that came to live with us a few months ago is still
learning as to do's and don'ts. Lady wife had spooned some horseradish
sauce onto her plate and stood with the spoon in her hand just for a moment
or two. Chloe saw her chance and snatched the spoon, and she had washed it
before it could be retrieved.
then her face screwed up [in anguish?] she had her lips pulled back as she
tried to lick the stuff away, and was making what sounded like retching
noises
I am sure she was spitting to try to be rid of the taste

Soft of sounds like my daughter's dog who decided to take on a wild
skunk. Sure learned a good lesson! LOL
